Digital Camera to Accept M42 Lenses?
Screw the adapter on to the back of the lens. Then bayonet the combination onto the camera. When you unscrew the lens the adapter will remain on the body - you have effectively turned a bayonet body into a screw mount one. Lenses can now be screwed on and off as you wish. When you have finished w...

Digital Camera to Accept M42 Lenses?
Wow, This started as one of my first questions on this wonderful forum, and it's really spooky to be coming back after all these months with input. As I move into K mount camera bodies, and as I wait for my first real K mount lens to arrive (Just won an SMC Pentax A f4 35 - 70 Zoom on eBay), ...

Digital Camera to Accept M42 Lenses?
The Pentax K mount adapter has no extension, but lies flush within the mount. This is essential so that you can still focus on infinity. They are less than £15 new, and are still available from your dealer.

Digital Camera to Accept M42 Lenses?
See? No end to what can be learned here. Thanks John! I KNEW there had to be a better way! Well off to - back to - eBay.

Digital Camera to Accept M42 Lenses?
I bought this one, item number 7593068479 and the seller assures me that they facilitate focussing at infinity. Check his other items for the same description and you should find one. The seller's reply to my question "Is it a Pentax made item etc" follows:- Quote: No, it's not made...

What Equates to Power Of One Vision? 50MM or 55MM?
My understanding, and I don't think we need to be too precise, is that viewfinder images are typically between 90-95% of the picture area (eg. the Z1-P is 92%). Therefore, what you see isn't quite all that you get on film and this is a good thing because it allows for cropping of the final image - w...

Do You Use Sunny 16 or Auto Exposure?
Just about all I've ever shot was manual focus cameras. During full sun I relied on "sunny 16" and under other conditions I USUALLY get a proper exposure between an "experienced guess" and bracketing (along with a little help from a meter). How do most people handle exposure in these days of auto...

Is it true? PENTAX UK is closing?
Please don't say that! Although this may explain why the people there did a terrible (i.e. not at all) job of fixing my MES and leaving bits of fluff inside... They've got it back there now, hope they don't go bust and keep it.

Extension Tubes, Bellows and Macro Lenses
Kim C.'s manuals have provuded extensive information on the use of Extension Tubes and Bellows with M42 bodies and the Takumar family of "Normal" lenses. He was trying to head off my usual silly questions, but here's a few that slipped through Kim's excellent defence perimeter. I've had no experi...

Extension Tubes, Bellows and Macro Lenses
Hi Mac, the true definition of macro is 1x - 10x lifsize on the film. Up to 1x is closeup. However, many lens makers will call their lenses macro if a normal print is lifesize rather than the neg. this equates to 1/4 - 1/5 lifesize but in reality it is close focus. the lenses themselves, normally z...

Introduction
What's the attraction of full-frame digital - apart from the obvious ones of high cost, extra weight, bulky bodies, huge file sizes, inability to handle nice small DA lenses, slower processing on the pc, slower back-ups, and the need for more batteries, larger memory cards, and larger hard disks? ...

The Bare Bones
few years back I'd have said my mz5, pk 28-200, ftz500 with both long and short cables, shoe adapter fg and my 85 mm soft focus (older manual focus one) with af 1.7 teleconveter. I'll let you know how things pan out with the ist ds2 later...

The Bare Bones
I'd definitely like to get hold of a KX one day (& an MX!) as I love the idea of a camera that's fully operational without batteries. The K2 & ME can be used at X-speed, which is a nice fall back, though I've never run out of batteries at an inopportune moment. What I like about the K2 (a...

The Bare Bones
Early days (pre teens) I was happy with my Zenith B and standard 50. I went via Praktica BCA & BC1 to a Chinon CP7m with 35-70 when I started earning and used that combo for about 10 years (now on long term loan to my Dad and still going strong) Now in the digital age and more in to my photog...

The Bare Bones
I have gravitated back to SLRs/digital from rangefinders, which have taught me to travel light (and use available light as much as possible). My kits are now: Film: MX body, Pentax SMC-M lenses 28/2.0, 35/2.8 and 50/1.7, 1.5x DOI converter. Digital: 24/2.8AF Sigma, 50/1.7F Pentax, Kenko 1.5...

What happened to the price-list?
I went to look up the price-list, and found it had gone. This is a great pity, because it was very useful for seeing what things used to cost, even if they were no longer available. If it's possible to re-introduce it, I, for one, would be pleased to see it back. G

Photography and vision
Hi, I am new to photography and learning on a Pentax ME SUper purchased on Ebay (very satisfied). I am nearsighted (less than 2 dioptrie) and I wandered if it influenced the way I focus when shooting. It surely does but to what extent ? Also if anyone knows a website with tips to improve, he is ...

Photography and vision
The viewfinder image is an image of the ground glass screen, which via the eyepiece optics has an apparent distance of around 1 metre. If you can see things clearly at this distance, you will be able to focus properly. The camera lens is actually projecting its image onto the ground glass. If you...

E6 Slide Processing
Hi Mac and Kimbo, Thanks for the link Kimbo, it does seem to answer the basic questions. The disadvantage of doing your own slides is that most of the kits are good for about 6-10 films but once mixed, don't last all that long. If you are doing lots of slides it is a cheap way to go but only if you...

Sorry George, my mistake!
I recently made a comment in another thread that prompted this response: " Have Contax produced a digital back, too? Certainly Leica has, but it doesn't represent new technology. Just its application to a film body". It was actually the Leica that I was thinking of but convinced myself that i...
