Pentax User Magazine
About the Pentax User Magazine... May I purchase a membership from ephotozine? I live in Portugal, so surely the subscription price should be a bit more expensive, but I see no options. Is the PentaxUser only intended for people on the UK? I don't know about the rest of the benefits of the member...

Confessions of a Vain and Shallow Gearhead
We've just had a short thread on Pentax Macro Lenses, and how much we love them - often as general purpose lenses as well as the wonderful close up work they allow. I am the world's worst when it comes to image - not the image in the viewfinder or on the print - the photographer's. The minute ...

Critique Forum
I would think 2 possible drawbacks are this: A) somebody with a lot of potential, and little experience/confidence may get intimmidated or have thier feelings hurt. B) some people are overly competitive and or sensitive and this could get unfriendly and unproductive. I remember when I was...

New Photographic Ideas
I'm not really in a rut but as there are no Photography courses here in Durham now I find that setting my self little projects is a way of getting a litle focus. At the moment it's Xmas decorations. Love the snowy shop by the way.

End Caps for Metal Lens Hoods
I've been wandering around with a KM, which is the bayonet version of your SPF and which has the same problem. And I couldn't find an easy answer either. It's the one drawback of a brilliant camera design in every other respect. The only suggestion I have is that we remove the lens hoods and ...

My website is soon to be officially launched. Feedback?
Having gone through a nasty divorce, (many thousands of images, and many thousands of dollars worth of Pentax equipment, fell victim to the wrath of a woman scorned.), I find myself now rising up from my own ashes. Ready to begin over. This website is evolving, from a simple tool to deliver pro...

My website is soon to be officially launched. Feedback?
Actually you are quite right, We'll be narrowing it down to 9 per page, with some downloadable pdf brochures soon, I take my time to get around to things..... I dressed up as the "Procrastonator" (spoof on Terminator) for halloween. "I'll BE BACK !" (in Arnold-esq voice) "...EVENTUALLY..."

My website is soon to be officially launched. Feedback?
Corrected now George, spelling not my strongest point. I'll be back along the Fort William - Mallaig road in a week or two, firstly off to Orkney on the 20th Feb, then Inverness and Isle of Skye, the DS will be getting a work out over the next month. Must get an extra set of rechargeables.

Flood Lamps
Thank's for the input, my friends. I'll start with whatever flood bulbs I can find locally - not so easy any more! What makes this all even more complicated is we've now got flourescents in the room mix, and I hear they can add a greenish pall? Hopefully the floods overpower everything else. I...

Processing Kodak's 400ASA C-41 Black & White Film
Mac, I've only used this film a few times, and this is what I've found: * The developing is no problem * The printing can be a real pain It depends largely on whether they actually know how to use their equipment :P The last one came back with a sepia first shot, and the rest were just "bleurg...

Processing Kodak's 400ASA C-41 Black & White Film
Peter, No wonder my threat of a visit didn't phase you! With a second go round of little kiddies it'd take a cataclismic event to ruffle YOUR feathers. (And you've successfully scared me off!) Why don't you post a picture or two from the budding photog's unique perspective? You know, back ...

Baby tripods
Hi, How many of you would trust hundreds of pounds worth of camera gear to one of these..? Nor me either. But I guess most of you have one lying around to use with the point and shoot. They cost about a quid on ebay. Problem: Knowing you need a tripod for the day, and would pre...

Baby tripods
There's a certain ironic element to this, which is nothing to do with your idea, which is excellent. I was doing my talk "The Way We Were" which is a light hearted and affectionate look at the way photographer's behaved in the first half of the 20th Century; and indeed a more serious look at some...

Baby tripods
Hi, glad you like it.. John, One quirky aspect of photography way back then was the way people found such ingenious DIY things to do. I do it with everything. If I can make it, I'd rather do that than buy something.. or at least buy something cheap and modify it anyway. The stands for rem...

Baby tripods
An excellent fix and so simple. I did something in the opposite direction, modified a tripod to accept a sky dish whilst camping, but guess who managed to lose the body screw?Later after getting back to real size cameras it was well gone. As for mischief it's all about learning and saying sorr...

ND Filters
Don I've said it before, and I'll say it again - love your attitude. And now I love your philosophy too. So, a non graduated ND filter - I'd guess the screw-on type - simply slows down fast film so we can get less D.O.F. at bigger openings. I can see the benefits (been using opposing polarizer...

Lenses for an SFX-N
Nils, To simplify things a little for you, your best bet is either an F lens (current when your camera was in production) or one from the later FA range. Some of the FAs had an auto zoom function but you won't be able to use that facility on your SFX. If you'd like a manual-focus lens, an A s...
