Warehouse Express – Comments?
There isn’t a focus limit as such, but it has a focus clamp. The instruction which came with the lens have not been updated for the newer DFA lenses so I’m not sure if what I’m doing is ‘correct’. 1. The Focus Clamp effectively stops the AF system and the lens focus stays fixed. But you do appear...

Warehouse Express – Comments?
Thanks Dave ;) Regarding the AF... I have enabled the custom function that stops AF on halfpress of the shutter ;) Now I have to focus with the AF button on the back of the *ist-D, and that way the shutter is always ready. It took a little bit of getting used to, and freaks out anybody who pic...

K1000
The K1000 is compatible with all manual focus K lenses, including the A series. All atofocus lenses with an aperture ring can also be used in manual focus mode, so the only lenses excluded are the latest J and DA lenses that have no aperture ring. The M and A lenses are the most useful in this ca...

The Club Glamour Night or How to Cure 'Jelly-legs'Syndrome.
Now here's a bit of FUN: an article I wrote for the Brentwood Photographic Club magazine: For many members the annual 'Glamour Night' practical session is both eagerly anticipated and feared; pleasure at the thought of seeing some nubile young females showing little bits of all sorts of unmenti...

A short introduction from Mike
Thanks George. Just been considering what I will need next. I will be going for a larger memory card/microdrive and will also be looking for advice on photo printers. I will be back in UK for a few days in May so I will have time to tap your brains before I get my wallet out again. I mus...

Flower
That was exciting. It's a brilliant shot. The colouring is so vibrant. Great work! I tried tubes for the first time yesterday but my main problem was it was so dark to see through the viewfinder to focus. Have I got it wrong?

Optio 555 - Is there a SD Card size/speed limit?
Well, I got a high speed card and a USB2.0 SD card read/write adapter and here are my findings: CAMERA USAGE: It didnt seem to make any difference when taking photos or bringing them up on the display. Both cards seemed to take the same amount of time to do these tasks (even when saving as a r...

sometime back a mention was made regarding uploading of photographs taken by Pentax users. Till this day I has to still see works of other lensmen in this forum. can something be done so that we can view creative work and exchange opinions in the forum itself. apart from text pics should also be ava...

Beginning of the end for 35mm?
Hi to all, Film will never die, simply because of other markets opening up..it will just become a much smaller market and possibly more expensive. I have mentioned before there is a strong minority of snappers returning to film due to un-happiness with digital. The good side of digital is that it...

Beginning of the end for 35mm?
It depends on how far back you go, but Dixons started off as a photographic dealer, and they did most certainly sell leica and eveything else. However, over the years they have drifted into being something else and the photographic side has dwindled. I suppose these days they are an electronics stor...

Beginning of the end for 35mm?
and don't want to get involved in computers etc etc. I think that the biggest contributing factor in the acceleration of the switch to digital is the fact that you can now treat your memory card like a reusable film and drop it in to Boots (et al). You no longer need the computer. I'm not so ...

Beginning of the end for 35mm?
What is particularly good about eBay in my experience is that despite all the scams/shysters and downright crooks out there buyers and sellers of photographic tend to be nice people. Based on agreements with my wife, all new camera gear I have bought in the last few years has been financed buy th...

Beginning of the end for 35mm?
You would get good prices for many of thise lenses, as demand is strong for unusual manual focus lenses. When you move to a DSLR the small sensor will mean that the lenses will act as though they were 1.5x their marked focal lengths. This is because you are only using the centrel 22x15mm of their...

Beginning of the end for 35mm?
Dixon's announce that they are not selling 35mm cameras anymore and all over the web, people start announcing that film is going to be dead in a couple of months or so. People have been announcing this for a couple of years now. I may be wrong but I think film will be available long after I am dead ...

Beginning of the end for 35mm?
Stevo, I will try WH Smith, and report back. But I suspect you are talking about the old-fashioned sort of ribbon for typewriters made 100 years ago. I somehow doubt that dear old Smug offers a full range, but we shall see. G

Beginning of the end for 35mm?
I do mostly landscapes and buildings and usually take 20mm, 24mm, 28mm, 50mm and 100mm lenses when I go out because I prefer fixed focus to zooms. Based on the adverts I have seen in the magazines, Pentax don’t do many digital lenses and the small number they do make are mainly zooms. Choice of lens...

Ho hum!
A little over a year ago, I bought a faulty Espio 120 for just a few quid and decided that as it was in such nice condition that I'd send it to Pentax for repair. It cost £50 plus postage but was returned still faulty, so I sent it back and this time, got it fixed. The camera was now as good as ne...
