pentax 110

Sorry George and John In my rush to get the answers I did not give you all the information. This is new film from Lomography. The prints are very dark with little contrast. Some are grainy. They are appear in focus. In some ways they look like early Victorian prints. The negs have ...

pentax 110

The biggest problem with the 110 film format is the lack of a pressure plate in the cameras. Instead, we rely on the plastic cartridge to keep the film flat and in the right plane. Small formats mean very small depth of focus, so just when we need more accuracy we have less accuracy. So it depend...

pentax 110

'back in the day' - I used a Minolta 110 ZOOM SLR. Performance used to vary massively from one roll of film to another - so John's comments re cartridges make perfect sense to me - although I did not think of that at the time - I just ditched the camera and went back to 35mm. Carl

pentax 110

IIRC the Lomo film is ISO100, that should give a fine grain on 110 prints, and the camera should be able to handle it OK. It could be a developing problem Dave, I'd suggest raiding the wallet, making sure the aperture is working OK and that the camera is set to the correct speed, then try another...

An ME and MZ-S

After only a week with the MZ-S I will agree it is lovely to use. Feels like the K5 but the operation is quite different, so much so that I keep looking at the back after taking a shot to check it! Finding my way around it was not difficult, typical of Pentax to put things where you want them. T...

Digital Film

Back in 2000 I signed up as a tester for a project refered to as Silicon Film. Unfortunately it never happened. Fast forward to 2013 and Silocon Film is back as DigiPod! A UK developer has designed a solution and is looking for backing for a production run! IF he gets 1000 pre-orders, then th...

Digital Film

Nothing wrong with it John, if that's what you want to do. I think I'd be more impressed with a digital back though, rather like the ones for medium format cameras. However, that would be a really expensive option.

Nothing wrong with it John, if that's what you want to do. I think I'd be more impressed with a digital back though, rather like the ones for medium format cameras. However, that would be a really expensive option. In theory, this will fit in all my film cameras, a digital back would likely be mo...

Digital Film

Round about 2002/2003/2005??????? there was a digital back developed for 35mm cameras (Make unknown) and a lot of hype about it, but it never saw the light of day. I wonder what happened to it???? CHEERS Vic.

However, that would be a really expensive option. Well it is a digital back to all intents and purposes. One that can be inserted in...

pentax slr recommendation with K-mount

Don't bother with film would be my advise. Put your old lenses on any of the digital Pentax models for better, quicker cheaper results Hi, I did a small stint in London, and even in the Gambia where I got bitten by a cat (the domestic sort) and had to have rabies treatment on return, with a K10 and ...

Question regarding the MZ-S

Now you mention it - I have not know this happen to a 60 either. That said, although I own one - it has hardly been used as I have always disliked it - especially the silly little rubber buttons. Carl Agree fully on the 60 Carl, I picked one up a while back but can't be bothered using it because ...

Develop film to RAW?

Actually most RAW files are TIFF under the hood, with some extra headers for additional metadata. TIFF is more of a container format really, lots of options for compression, bit depth and so on. Thank you - that might explain a recent mystery for me: I uploaded a DNG Raw file to another web site and...

Advice please on MZ3

I recently got my MZ3 out of the cupboard as I found I still had a roll of film, the camera has not been used for maybe 10 years so I guess I'm asking a lot of it. However before putting it in I decided to see if the camera seemed to operate OK. Sadly it does not. The film wind on works OK when ...

Advice please on MZ3

We can't really guess what is wrong, but a good start is to try new batteries. Sometimes if batteries are weak cameras will lock up. Failing that, it's back to Asahi Photo, Harrow Technical or Newton Ellis and the like for a quote. JPS only do the digital cameras.

Darkroom chemicals from 1996

Hello, I bought a 'kit' of ebay. All the equipment wasn't used at all but I did find a receipt in amongst the stuff dating back to 1996. The chemicals are all sealed but I could safely say they will be unusable? Ilford Wetting Agent 250ml Ilford Stop Bath 500ml Barclay Black and White Dev...

Problem with Pentax P30n

Thank you all for your helpful comments, I will try your suggestion Gamka, I think you are right. We were always advised to run through the shutter speeds to keep the action ticking over but it may be 20 years since this one saw the light of day. I was hoping there was a 'reset' button that would re...
