negatives to computer
Two options not previously mentioned: Buy a second hand Minolta scanner, excellent results and certainly better than a budget scanner. Use a pro lab rather than Boots. Keep up at the back:wink: I've mentioned both

negatives to computer
I understand that the scanning of 36 negatives is a lengthy process and would not want to beholden to a club member for ever. The staggeringly high level of admin associated with scanning large numbers of negatives is exactly why the cheap scanner options are no good at all if you have more than a h...

negatives to computer
I bought a Nikon Coolscan IV ED five years ago second hand on Ebay. Its ICE technology has to be seen to be believed, so there is almost no cloning in PS needed. I scanned thousands of slides and negs, popped it back on Ebay and sold it for MORE than I paid. These Nikon scanners are so collectable t...

Have I wrecked my roll of Ektar?
I think a hlaf stop underexposure on print film should be fine... maybe a little more grain... just mention it to your photofinisher and check your prints and negs when you get them back to make sure your prints are printed right.

Would like to get an MX, go for cheap used or serviced?
As a member of Pentax user, you are entitled to a rebate at Harrow Technical. I had my MX serviced by them. Total cost (shipping included): 63,25£ (56,25£ without shipping). I asked them what have been fixed: The fast shutter speed were very bad, viewfinder focus was out and wind on very tight. W...

Would like to get an MX, go for cheap used or serviced?
Bit of a lag since the thread started but I've done a lot of e-baying in the last year so thought I'd just share my experience and views ME Super, black (ca £35) - came with 1:2 pentax prime. Purchased in Dec 09, ran 7 rolls through (back to back comparison use with my K1000) and it suffered a jamm...

Would like to get an MX, go for cheap used or serviced?
On mine I unscrewed the baseplate and put a good squirt of the stuff into the shutter mechanism, which is between the winder shaft and the mirror box. That plus a bit of gentle prodding with a fine screwdriver of anything I could find caused the camera to unjam and drop back into working order. It i...

Film counter not resetting to zero from "36". Easy Fix?
If you open the back of the camera you will find a small pin just under the counter. This is usually connected to a spring and when the back is opened the pin should come out a bit and that in turn resets the counter. If the pin is jammed in any way it will stop the counter from resetting. Try to...

Film counter not resetting to zero from "36". Easy Fix?
One more thought. wind up the camera with the back open an take a few 'shots' it may be that it resets itself again but you may be heading for a problem with it anyway. Another way I would try is use a test film that you do not need or that is too old to be developed and shoot it till you can not w...

Film counter not resetting to zero from "36". Easy Fix?
I have an ME with a similar problem - I think it's due to the spring which pulls the counter back to zero not being quite strong enough to make it turn. Said ME came jammed and with a non-working frame counter. It now counts perfectly but doesn't flick back to zero when you open the back - in this c...

Provenance... Things that somehow survive (What you can find when having a clear out!)
I also find it intriguing. My Dad still has his K2 with M 50/1.7 and original manual, and is under strict instructions never to sell it even though he has a K7 now. I recently bought a black Pentax ME which came with original strap, case, lens cap (these usually go walkabout) and manual. In the ...

Cameras for sale
I've temporarily removed the e-mail address whilst I ask you if you're sure you want it in there - every spambot in the world will be crawling all over it if it's on show in the forum. You're better off accepting offers by PM and listing your Pentax related items in Classified Ads. If you want...

ME Super: to service or not?
I've finally returned to the world of film with an ME Super, £24 on Ebay + £4 for batteries. Great little camera, very intuitive (apart from the white button on the mode dial) and makes a satisfying noise when the shutter's released! All in working order and just got my first film back: example b...

ME Super: to service or not?
I've just received my ME Super back from Harrow. Very pleased with the result, and the focusing screen while not perfect is much cleaner than I expected. Second roll of film going in at the weekend. Stan

Did focus screens change ?
Hi Guys, I am about to embark on a focus screen resize for my K7. I have used an ME screen in the past. I was wondering if the later screens got brighter or anything ? Have the chance to pick a free P30T body that has the split collar. Any thoughts much appreciated Pete

Did focus screens change ?
Focussing screens have tended to get brighter over the years as technology, particularly treatments such as Optibrite have improved. For example: I believe there is 1 stop difference in metered EV between a Z1 and Z1P screen, when placed in the same camera. Regards Steve
