Anyone still uses film?

Yes, In the absence of a DSLR over last few months I have re-enthused. I've got 120 HP5 locked and loaded in a Agfa Isola, HP5 in the Z-1 and I'm getting more colour slide film for the Yashica T4 which produced some nice images. Also is an inspiration. I read about a young photographer in BJP...

Anyone still uses film?

I like using film. Just need some more practice with manual focus and using the older cameras.:P Just got 3 films back from testing my cameras, some ok, some not so ok..... But I like the feel that you get from the film pictures. Very retro. It's not all about sharpness and resolution! :lol...

Anyone still uses film?

I use a 1957 Zeiss Ikon loaded with 120 B&W film now and again. A lovely little camera - pop out lens on bellows, £9.50 from ebay :D Only get 12 shots per film so it really does make me stop and think about what and how i'm shooting. Fantastic quality prints come back and i find that i'm far more...

Anyone still uses film?

I always carry a film camera in my bag, either an Me super, an ES, an ES11 or an SPF. I love them. I like the look of them, the feel of them and the results they give. But they will never replace digital! Don't you mean digital will never FULLY replace film? I shoot film as a remind...

Anyone still uses film?

I love using film- is it better or worse than digital?? I ponder on that and can quote this which I read recently, "Which is exactly what the dry plate photographers said about film, and the collodion process photographers said about dry plate, and the Daguerreotype photogs said about collodion...."...

Anyone still uses film?

Yes, I still use film. As long as it continues to be produced, I will use it. I have no doubt that 35mm film at least, will still be made for the duration of my lifetime. This will sound strange to many, but I cannot get the feeling out of my head, that only film, is 'proper' photography. Don't get...

Anyone still uses film?

Nothing lasts for ever, but these days we worry about it more. I don't remember any anxious discussions about archival permanence back in the days of film.

Anyone still uses film?

I still have a roll of Fujichrome Sensia 200asa in my Pentax ZX-M which gives surprising results given its simple metering. My last big trip with the ZX-M was to Sorrento in 2008. My scans from slides (done by the 'new' Fuji Lab) are here (though resized for Flickr): http://www.flickr.com/photos/...

Lense interchange

Hi I'm new to the site but have been a loyal Pentax user for 16 years. I still use my beloved P30 (metal body, not plastic) and standard lense (1:1.4) and still get fantastic pictures from it. Anyway having resisted SLR digital for many years, I bought a 35mm MZ-L five years ago because I thought ...

1) Yes 2a) £40ish 2b) £20ish 2c) £60ish The camera you have is a MZ-6 (the "L" suffix was never used outside the US market) and is quite a well regarded camera from a not-particularly-sought-after range; hence the value isn't too high. The 28-80 is the kit lens from that era and, again, not ve...

Yes, your lenses will work on digital. As they're both Autofocus you just have to clip them on and off you go. Make sure that the aperture ring (if they have one) is set to "A" and they should work seamlessly. Your 50mm f1.4 will work but it'll be manual focus. Assuming it's the "A" model then yo...

Thanks for the advice and info, I think I'll hang onto the Tamron lens (thanks for the spelling tip!) and sell the MZ-6 body and lens together for what it's worth (any places you can suggest in the London area that would buy that from me?) Any advice on an entry level pentax DSLR? I've seen revi...

Lense interchange

It must depend on the batteries. I use Energiser Lithium in mine and I get six months or around 600 shots per set of batteries. I do know that I tried some normal Duracell AAs and it ate them pretty rapidly, so it's worth paying the extra for good cells. There is a visible marker rather like tha...

All the recent Pentaxes have been good. The K-m battery issues are overstated. Good rechargables like eneloops last a long time. The focus point thing is also a trivial issue. But also consider the K200d or k10d - they arguably have even more to offer and aren't any more complicated to use, espe...

You can get the manual from (password is Pentax - case sensitive). My advice is to put a nice 50mm on the front, some Ilford FP4+ in the back and enjoy! :D

This is what you'll need to replace the light seals Emma It isn't that hard to do, but first I'd have a go through Paypal to get some or all your money back.

These old mechanical bodies really aren't hard to work on, assuming that it isn't jammed and that the meter and shutter speeds are accurate. If you buy the light seals package from that ebay link you'll get all the tools you need, although I'd also suggest a spray bottle of screen cleaner (the stuff...

I always think it's a good idea to give a seller a chance to put things right. They might refund you, and maybe not even want the product back if it's not worth the cost of doing that. It is weekend, so if they are a dealer they might not be in a position to respond until Monday. Ultimately yo...
