If you have paid by Paypal then you can check if the item is seriously " not as described " and may have a case.Excellent working does not give indication of cosmetic condition though !
I await your photos of the item - did it come with a lens ? I suppose in this day and age £35 is not a fortune but nobody likes being ripped off.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but IMO you paid way too much, I bought a truly mint Spotmatic F (a later and much better camera) with lens, case, manual and everything down to the original receipt for £29.
The black gunge you see is the light seals and mirror damping foam disintegrating. Fixable and some people on here know a lot about how to do it.
It may be expected that a camera from the late 60s/early 70s will suffer from this but no way can it be described as 'excellent working condition'

You can replace the light seals for about £7, it isn't hard to do. However, if the old mirror bumper foam (the foam strip along the edge of the focusing screen nearest the front of the camera) has managed to get onto the focusing screen then the screen is almost impossible to clean.

I get mine from an ebay seller in the USA, the £7 ish I quoted was for a kit that will refit a pair of cameras. Look for the seller "camerasealkitsandmore", they offer kits for all Pentaxes so you just say what type you have when you order.
I've replaced the seals in six or seven bodies now, it really isn't difficult. Need to order another pack in fact as my newly-acquired KX and my old K1000 could do with new seals.

This is what you'll need to replace the light seals Emma

It isn't that hard to do, but first I'd have a go through Paypal to get some or all your money back.
