Pentax ME trouble shooting

Which I found to be very helpful. Its written around the ME Super, but most of the stuff is very similar. Worth a read if you plan to dismantle one of these types of camera. I have two left hands and nothing would entice me to take a camera or lens apart (assuming I want it to go back together again...

old cases

Don't know - but I've got a nice one going spare if you want to try it out? I can stick it in the post and you can either send it back or make me an offer for it if you want to keep it. :)

P50 apeture blonde moment?

Got me another ME Super on its way so not too fussed, the P50 will have a nice spot in the display cabinet with all my other delights. Thanks for the help, hopefully the ME Super is in better order, sold a beauty a while back and regretted it since.

Pentax 110

The main problem with 110, I have been told (by JR if I remember rightly), is that because the film is in a cartridge, there isn't a pressure plate to hold it nice and flat and in the right spot. Correct, and being a smaller format register is more critical as the depth of focus at the film plane ...

just bought a spotmatic

I was browsing ebay and came across a cheap working spotmatic body with a few minutes left so put in a bid for a tenner not expecting to win and got it for a gend total of £15 odd incl postage:) I have a fair number of m42 takumar lenses that I use for the K7 so no worries there - I used film a litt...

just bought a spotmatic

Hi selectcase I bought a Spotmatic 1000 back in 1991 from Fairs Cameras in Rock Ferry,Merseyside. It cost me £129.50 plus £8.50 for the hot shoe attachment. Also £15.96 for a pack of four Kodak 35mm 36 exposure 100 ASA. All still in the ERC with a 50mm f2 lens, original box and paperwork. I used...

S/H MZ bodies and standard zooms

AFAIK the single-digit MZ series (as in MZ-5, MZ-7) are higher spec than the double digit ones (as in MZ-50). The MZ-M is manual focus. Keep an eye on MZ-60s, some of them were sold with a 28-90mm zoom which is a pretty handy performer and the camera was intended as a premium amateur model. Tr...

S/H MZ bodies and standard zooms

Both the MZ-30 and MZ-50 are readily available for around £15 +p&p body only. They have a plastic lens mount that spoils the look without a lens fitted. I've recently acquired a MZ-6 from SRS and am impressed with the control options, everything from idiot proof to full manual can be set. The ...

S/H MZ bodies and standard zooms

As far as I know power zooms work by twisting the lens 'body' left or right to zoom in/out, fine focus is done by the shutter button. The power contacts are usually visible inside the lens mount. The MZ-6 has them, but not the MZ-7. The power connections can be seen in If your considering po...

i just got given a pentax p30T

Enjoy it - the P30t was probably the last of their manual SLRs (manual focus and wind on), a very nice camera. You can download the manual free if you're not sure about anything, just try googling "Pentax P30t manual".

i just got given a pentax p30T

Yup, saw it, couldn't afford any of it! I'm mostly keeping my eyes open for either or both of the 135mm lenses and a 50/1.4 for my KX, although if a 200mm f4 pops up for £50 or so I'll pounce on it. Having just bought another MX (looked minty, came with original lens and a few bits and pieces inc...

i just got given a pentax p30T

One thing to beware of with the 28-80mm and possibly the other zoom - does the front element rotate when you focus? If so, you're going to have a hard time with ND and polarising filters as they need to be at a specific orientation to work (hence why they can be turned once attached to a lens). ...

i just got given a pentax p30T

It's a 35mm film developing tank from the dawn of time - I would guess that mine could date from anywhere between the 1930s and 1960s judging by the box and bakelite material. The wonderful thing about it is that you don't need a darkroom, it just loads the film like a camera (slightly more fidd...

shutter cable release

Been into photography for about 4 years and using digital but decided I needed to go back to film to learn about taking thoughtfully composed pictures instead of just point shoot and delete the rubbish. I have just bought a Pentax P30T and would like to know if anybody knows where I might be ...

Wide angle film lens

The only pentax AF zoom I have seen is the 18-35. Any ideas, I need a wide angle for my Z1-p, haven't tried my 16-45 yet-it might work.Have been looking at the Tamron 17-35. Any ideas would be welcome. Will I get back/front focus issues using third party lenses on a film camera?? Many thanks Chr...

Wide angle film lens

The Tokina AF193 19-35 is a good choice. I bought the last one SRS has in stock, last year. The so called "Plastic Fantastic". Don't let the nickname put you off. It is all metal except the very chunky focus and zoom ring grips (deeper tread than my car's tyres!) The manual says that it usable on di...

MX Repairs

I have decided to get back into slide film after switching to digital a few years back. Having looked out my old MX from the attic - I (re)discovered how nice it is. Unfortunately the meter seems to be faulty (intermittent). I have decided to try and have it repaired and serviced. My optio...

newbie advice

Well, that question is a bit open-ended! It really depends on (a) how much you mind everything being manual and (b) how much money you have to spend! Here are my suggestions: All manual and lightweight (and very popular): the MX. Very lightweight which is an advantage but tends to dent easily...
