So Disappointed

Hello again everyone, and I hope everyone is keeping well! I wrote a few months ago prior to purchasing the Pentax K50 and asked for you opinion. Well, due to business and family commitments the purchase was put on hold for a few months which finally took place in May. As I was off on holid...

So Disappointed

I understand your frustration, i used to own the Pansonic FZ38 before purchasing a DSLR , when i started using the DSLR I was not imediatley impressed. I took some practice and getting familar with the new camera before I started getting better images. This is far from the first post i have seen fro...

So Disappointed

:lol: Well QC, I can say for sure that if I went back to film then my chances of learning to shoot great flying bird shots would be exponentially diminished!

So Disappointed

Hello All that I can add is that reading books is no substitute for getting out and taking lots of photographs. Like many, I moved from film to a digital compact. I always liked my compact and the images it produced. I then went back to Pentax with the K100d Super. At first I hated the imag...

Confused over lens type

It's quite a minefield for everyone, so quite a common question. One thing to add .... Those lenses that are made in different versions are often distinguished between with the 'L' designation. This means a more budget version, with plastic mount ring and without the 'quickshift' focus adjuster. Opt...

Confused over lens type

I'd think that all of the newer Pentax DSLRs , going back to the K5 of 2010, can easily be used at ISO 1600, with good quality results. 3200 also is acceptable for many types of shots. If we might have traditionally used ISO 400 film before, as our ' faster' dull light option, that might have give...

how to change to back button focus

I just got my K-1. This is my first Pentax. Could somebody please tell me how I change from the Focus button to using the AF button for focus, i.e. back button focusing? what are the steps I need to take?

how to change to back button focus

You can change the mode in the main menu somewhere to take the focussing off the shutter release, but I just keep my thumb on the " AF " button when shooting fast moving subjects. it just takes a little getting used to and to remember to use it. Chris

how to change to back button focus

In my working life I often wrote operators manuals for machine tools and on the front of each one I always put. IF ALL ELSE FAILS READ THE MANUAL. That's the best advice I can give you. Welcome to Pentax User. I hope you have a pleasant stay. We are all mostly a friendly bunch. CHEERS Vic.

how to change to back button focus

I agree Vic, but the pentax manual for the K3ii is not easy to read due to a lack of care in the printing size etc. It is also quite difficult to read, understand and use.

how to change to back button focus

Dave. I have the K3 & the K3ii and both of my manuals are of a reasonable size to read. I must admit I did have a bit of a problem working out how to set up my AF540FGZ & my AF540FGZii for remote operation from the built in flash on the K3, but I worked it out in the end. People spend a long time ...

Let me introduce myself and my Pentax gear..

Very interesting collection and back story, and a belated welcome even though you've been here 2 years. Gear looks like it's in very good condition, and seems you're someone with an eye for a good deal?
