smc F* 250-600mm
If someone would have told me on Saturday that I would be driving from Aylesbury to Clacton-on-Sea during the weather and travel problems we are currently having I would have called them crazy! So there would have to be something special at the other end, and this lens could certainly be that! Th...

smc F* 250-600mm
Thanks for the comments, appreciated! As for what I'll be using it for, mainly wildlife, I do seem to like action shots and get a lot of pleasure from 'nailing' a moving target. Have found zooms to be a lot better for this because if you lose your target, being able to pull back, find target, the...

Is it possible to use that thing hand held or is it really a tripod/monopod jobby all the time? Looking at it, I'd say it depends if you are built like Arnie or not... probably best option would be use a colleague's shoulder though if you are trying to freestyle... (there's a 5DII-sized dent in my r...

smc F* 250-600mm
Time for an update! Well..it’s been a crazy month! The new lens purchase has completely rocked our boat and lead to an awful lot of researching, long nights trawling the net, kit being sold, kit being bought and some ‘soul searching’! First thing to do was to pay for it, which involved selling...

Can you get that monster in the Tamrac:shock: Yes, fits well! Main differences between the 8X and 9X are:- No laptop slot on 9X, which means an extra 3cm depth, which means lens stored with tripod foot on, which saves a lot of space. Main compartment seperators that go down the middle are s...

smc F* 250-600mm
Gets heavy though! And people have accused me of carrying too much kit... How are the same faults that were mentioned in the original sale? Are you going to get the lens serviced? Hope to be at Focus too this year, probably on the Monday too. K.

Hello again Peter! Nice setup! I have the Tamrac Expedition 8 and my F* 250-600 fits in nicely too. It does, but nowhere near as well as in the 9X, can wholeheartedly recommend trying one as soon as you can. Hope you don't mind if I post a few samples made with my lens (clickable of course)....

Hi Ian Thanks for taking the time to recommend the Wimberley, and yes I did in fact pick one up at the Focus on Imaging show earlier in the month. Was waiting until then hoping for a show deal, and whilst it was only 'a free plate' it was still a £50ish saving. Here is the complete setup at th...

Pentax ME Super + M50 f1.4 + M135 f3.5 MINT?
If you got all that for 35 quid then you did indeed get a bargain! As mentioned above, the ME Super and the 135mm are both common (albeit good for use) so don't expect big money for either - £20-30 each sort of ball park. The 50mm should see you get minimum £70 back and probably more depending o...

A black ME
These don't seem hugely common, especially not in this condition. When I saw it for £20 with no bidders I decided to have a go, and ended up paying £20 for it with original strap, ERC, and manual. It even has the original lens cap! The camera and lens are in almost perfect condition, the len...

A black ME
Nice one Matt.... I like Black Cameras used to have two Black Spotmatics from new until I traded them in for a K2 and some lenses when they came out. If they ever invent a time machine and your able to travel back to 1977 you should be well set up  A PENTAX SMC 35mm F3.5 went for £122 a f...

An older model
My lady love has just told me that my ESII has come back from Eric Hendrickson having been repaired. Only annoying thing is that I am in Texas this week! I'm looking forward to playing with it next week. Should be fun... :D K.

A tale of two MXs
I have a third silver one which is terminally jammed (I suspect an attempt to dismantle in its past, but I can't see what went back together wrongly). I haven't decided whether to get it professionally sorted or use the body panels to tidy up the scruffy working body. Thing is, I quite like havi...

A tale of two MXs
Super A cases have the poppers at two different heights. Looking from the back the right hand side popper is 2-3cm lower than the left. Thanks for the info re: the dark blue lining. Now I know what to look out for/ask about. Cheers, Kris.

A tale of two MXs
It's either dark blue or black. Quite hard to tell, but it definitely isn't dark red! Thanks for that info - it would seem that the T2 fronts are for the M series as I just came across another auction. There seem to be quite a few of these floating about as new/old stock at the moment. I don't kn...

Three K telephoto primes
I always fancied a 120mm for portraits, the 135mm was far too flat for head and shoulders enlarged bigger than postcard size. The big drawback with the Pentax 135mm's was the 1.5m minimum focus when other makes were down to 1.0m.... My favourite used to be the Ensinor 135mm f/2.8 which went do...
