Lost Railway Line walk, Brixton, Yealmpton, Devon.
This is by the River Yealm estuary and along to Steer Point, near Brixton South Hams, Devon. A nice short walk and our route also included old lanes that unbelievably the odd car still manages to drive. I mean to go back and take a flash for a picture of an old tree growing/competing on a wall adjac...

Closer to home for autumn
Back local after the Northumberland trip and making the most of decent weather and lovely soft light has meant far too much processing of RAW files to do. Must be more selective about pressing the shutter! First up is the mandatory autumn walk along the Narrow Canal with the K-1 and FA 28-105mm. All...

Ensnared
Thank you, Steve. I would think that, in a small unit such as this, spiders' silk comes into it's own in the strength/weight dept.! So. a fine, black insect pin with its point superglued perpendicularly into the back of the package, pointing back, away from the lens along its axis, with a 90...

First snow of the winter
After the wind and the lack of sleep on Friday night due to the expectation that the roof was about to be relocated to the next town, today we had the first snow of the winter. Pretty views, even with the limited sunlight, and cold. Sometimes I take a photograph of one of my regular views, not f...

First snow of the winter
Both are beautiful images, skilfully taken. I noticed the unusual lens used for the second shot, it seems to be pretty good! Kind Regards David I love it, and manual focus lenses in general. The smooth, tactile, cold metal feel of a quality manual prime adds something to the process for me, ...

First reel of film for a digital user
As someone who came to the Pentax SLR world with a K10D as my first SLR, I thought it'd be interesting to give film photography a go. I just got back my first roll of film from the local drugstore and have scanned in a few of the shots to share. All were taken with a Spotmatic using Agfa APX 400 fil...

A rather contrasty morning
The DFA 21mm looks to be very handy as a high quality walk-about lens, and your posts with pictures using the lens are doing it justice. I've not held one yet, but from the specifications, the size and weight are acceptable to me. What are your thoughts on the handling of the lens when used with...

A rather contrasty morning
Gorgeous hometown you have there John, in Malvern. I’ve only fleetingly visited once but I ought to go back.

Night Photography with K10D and 'RAW'
i organised a Night Photography Shoot for members of Brentwood & District Photographic Club and decided NOT to use 'FILM' but my 2007 bought K10D which suffers from Back-focus . I used a SMC Pentax -F 35-70mm f3.5-4.5 kindly Donated to me by a Forum Member ( YES! I did not go into the Bin as I got...

Aberthaw
Sorry to hear that you are suffering from long COVID. I spent two weeks in hospital with COVID back in February. Caught it the week before my first injection. Very weak when I came out . Took two weeks before I could give my dog tehe walk he was used to. Get well soon.

Thank you all, yes progress, slow, but in the right direction. Just wish it was totally out of my system with any long term Covid issues a thing of the past. Still, as much as it sucks and it makes me feel down and unhappy I tell myself there are others far worse than me and many also haven't made i...

Superglue
Setting my focus manually for my macros was becoming more difficult, aligning a black insect pin with half-degree accuracy..... Ah, I know! What I need is a v. small magnifier/lens to "enlarge" the needle-point/degree marks. Amazon didn't seem to have anything suitable, so I thought... I'll make...

Superglue
Stunning, original and very well seen and taken :D. How many times have I seen a blob of glue go cloudy and never thought about what's actually happening blob... As for an explanation, it might be due to air trapped under the second blob trying to work its way out while the glue sets. Alternative...

Mist, sunlight and shadows in the Colne Valley
Hi David, good to hear from you - I think! Food for thought in your comments, which is no bad thing, so here’s my response. Not painting or cropping out the fence/wires in 1 and 3 is easily solved. The distraction is more obvious to me in 3, less so in 1. A slight crop of 1 also brings the ru...

my sam having fun
They may not be in focus but who cares - that dog is having fun! These remind me of Ted our Cockapoo that does at this the first sign of water but with his coat it means having to bath him afterwards, He does this all the time and then in the van (I won't say it's my baby and precious) I have to ...

Get a dog they said, it'll keep you company when out shooting images they said, a few YT photographers have them and look how they enrich their time out they said. Reality is - Ted likes to jump up to say hello to you - I get wet...or muddy. I stop to look at a scene he barks to say "C'mon, let...

Saxon church gravestone
This shows my favourite use of this incredible lens - the sharp, detailed foreground subject with the background fading out of focus - Nice shot Peter 8)
