Multi or single point focus?

A valid point Reuben0, and one that I'm aware of. However, in practise, though, I've rarely had an issue. Probably just the type of shot I take, and where the recomposition requires only a reframe (thus minimising the error). Matt

Multi or single point focus?

As you say Matt, it depends on the kind of pictures you take. Unless you're fairly close to the subject it doesn't make much difference. I tend to like portraits with very narrow DOF and I certainly experienced this problem until I read the above article and the penny dropped (finally!). Chee...

Multi or single point focus?

There is also some doubt that focus-recompose works when close to the subject using a wide aperture: http://www.outbackphoto.com/workshop/phototechnique/essay06/essay.html Cheers, Reuben0 Thanks for the link Reuben0, very interesting artical, maybe this is the cause of all the back focus issu...

Multi or single point focus?

I would say that the article is spot on and this is why I always try to keep the camera perpendicular to the subject. Of course it isn't always possible because of the subject distance but then the effect is less pronounced anyway as the distance increases. I definately prefer to use the center-f...

Multi or single point focus?

Multi-point autofocus is one of those things that the engineers do just because they can. It's useless for normal use, the camera has no idiea what you want to focus on! I use the center focus point most of the time, or I select a specific sensor for portraits when I know the eyes will be at one...

Multi or single point focus?

I tend to use manual selection of focus point. That way you can track subject movement without having to recompose. There is also some doubt that focus-recompose works when close to the subject using a wide aperture: http://www.outbackphoto.com/workshop/phototechnique/essay06/essay.html Che...

Multi or single point focus?

There are plenty of times I ditch AF altogether and use manual focus. Sometimes for portraits and almost always for macro.

Multi or single point focus?

There are plenty of times I ditch AF altogether and use manual focus. Sometimes for portraits and almost always for macro. I'm a bit like that too John, I seem to be using manual focus more and more now, since I gave away my FA100 Macro :D and paid an extortionate amount for an SMC-A 100 f2.8 my bod...

K1000. Wow.

I just got the first film back from a K1000 which I picked up almost by accident from an Ebay auction. I was after a lens and the 1000 came with it. I thought I'd put a roll through the K1000 to make sure it works before selling it on. Well suffice to say I'm not selling it on anymore! I have fal...

K1000. Wow.

Mongoose - I know what you mean, I still use my old man's first Pentax, a KM that was bought 2 days after I was born (well he had to do something to cheer himself up!). It gets plenty of outings with it's original 55mm and 135mm K series lenses... I find that it's superb for B&W. In those 30 yea...

Another Newbie

Oh and I went for the 16-45 F4 and 50-200 F4-5.6 lenses . Welcome to the forums. The 16-45 is an excellent choice. I'm not so sure of the 50-200, that's a long zoom range. If you're into serious photography, it helps that the camera can take all sorts of old lenses going back to the 197...

Pentax 110

I have one, with a few lenses. It would be nice if somebody would make a digital back for them. G well the sensors exist, the 4/3rds system is more or less the right size, of course the market is far too small so no one will ever do it :(

Pentax 110

check out www.pentax110.co.uk, you can get more or less anything related to System 10 from there. I've dealt with him a few times and he's always been great, even found me a couple of back caps which are very hard to get in Pentax 110 mount.

Eye correction

Thanks John....will this fit on to the old K1000 / ME super SLR's though? When I asked at Camera exchange, they didn't suggest your solution and told me I would have to focus thro specs as there wqas nothing available any longer in terms of the clip on correction pieces they used to do.
