Lightroom 2.4 backup?

Anvh how about copying the catalogue to D: then back to C: after installing Windows 7 and Lightroom 2.4. Personally I use my own cataloguing system as against Lightroom 2.4.

Lightroom 2.4 backup?

That might be the solution Tom but I want to know for sure that it works since Lightroom also save the change you make to a raw file in that catalogue. It's great since the RAW files on D: are the original unaltered files from the camera so if the copying back doesn't work I lose all the developing...

Lightroom 2.4 backup?

Okay thanks Peter will do that now and hopefully will be back soon. I hate to install OS, you lose everything on so it will take some time to reinstall everything. At least we will have a fresh start now and hopefully it will run a bit better then windows does now. Do you also have that problem ...

Photographing star trails ?

I only attempted this once from my back yard on a clear night, but my approach was similar to Martins - I used bulb mode with remote trigger lock. The exposure was about 2 hours if I remember, but my biggest headache was moisture appearing on the lens as the night cooled. A friend of mine overco...

Outdoor Photography Faux-pas

I too wrote him regarding the missing macro lenses, as well as the DSLR Listings section at the back showing incorrect 'Web Prices' (now pretty much corrected - they always used to be SRPs) and in the same section the incorrect feature listings for the Pentax cameras (exposure modes, file types etc)...

Ex Demo K-7 from SRS on Ebay for £899 plus pp

I have revised the 'Items Specifics' section of the listing and removed the 'New' reference. This was a genuine error on my part as I used the other 'New' listing as a template... It's a shame they don't offer an Ex-Demo option in the 'Item Specifics' I am not trying to deceive - the fact that...

Original or Flipped?

I've added a blog post with a short quiz on it, asking whether you can tell if a photo is displayed in it's original orientation, or if it's been flipped back to front. If you can add your score to the comments on the blog post, that would be great. :-) And of course feel free to discuss it he...

Photolab - Check your results.

I got back from Shoreham Airshow today at about five o'clock and spent the evening preparing pictures to post on an airshow photography related site. I sorted through about 400 images, tidied them up a bit and resized them to 800 pixels wide and uploaded them to photobucket. Then I went to the si...

coffee with Yves... due to a carefully planned visit (no plans at all) we didn't give or get much time to connect with Mac or Yves... but Yves did go out of his way to meet for coffee.... and do we feel blessed for that! So sorry to have missed Mac, who was out of town at the time we went through...

On Vacation

Don, you should have left your wife there and then taken your son on a tour of the various lap dancing bars! Some of them don't mind photography either - as we found on a trip there a couple of years back. A local colleague (female) actually took us round several of them and most charges wen...

On Vacation

And what's the name of the "famous" deli/sandwich bar that does marvellous salt beef. Looked a bit run down and still in the 60's when I was there! You're talking about Schwartz. The best "smoke meat" sandwiches you can find. If ever you come back to Montréal, just let me know, and I'll give yo...

PPG acceptance.

......and well deserved it is too Martin. I had not realised when I saw it first that it was taken with the SMC 55mm 1.8. A great lens for manual focus.

Thanks Bob and Ken, About the colour of her eyes..... I would have to ask the cat, because she is born with them. I think the angle of light, time of day and maybe her mood could be of some influence. Sometimes they can glow right up to a amber kind of colour. This shot was taken two weeks ago at ...

are Tri-pods an endangered speices?

Spending a lot of time in woodland that is surprisingly dark, especially when using a polariser too, I couldn't live without a tripod. Often exposures run into seconds, so SR is useless in that respect anyway. I also use tripods when it's nice and sunny, and shutter speeds are perfectly hand-hol...

are Tri-pods an endangered speices?

I like shooting at dawn and dusk, and flower macros, all of which require a tripod. HDR shots of church interiors require one likewise. Having said that most of my photos are shot handheld, and most of my biggest disappointments are because of shooting handheld. It is, definitely, courses for ...
