Original or Flipped?

I've added a blog post with a short quiz on it, asking whether you can tell if a photo is displayed in it's original orientation, or if it's been flipped back to front.

If you can add your score to the comments on the blog post, that would be great.

And of course feel free to discuss it here, as long as no-one gives away the answers.

Blog Post here.

Have fun!

Very interesting Dan, thanks, 7 out of 10!

There was 3 I thought looked flipped... I got them right, the rest were a guess!

Thanks for giving it a go Ali, same percentage my wife got, and she's seen several of the shots before!

Very curious - and an interesting idea. I also got 7 out of 10 correct although I have no idea what criteria I was using to judge the pictures...

There were four that I felt definite about, two original and two flipped and got those right. For the other six I guessed and would have hoped to get three, but actually manged to get all six ... wrong.

So, 4/10

I only managed 50% which I think is the sort of score you get by chance, did not study the images just clicked original for those that looked right and flip for the rest, just shows how wrong you can be.

My selection was pure intuition, and I did 70%. To be honest, I don't think you can say for sure whether an image is flipped or not. But an interesting exercise.

The two I got wrong I was unsure about and could just as easily have guessed correctly, but the odd thing is even on the images I felt quite sure about (which I got correct) I donít think I could explain why they either looked right or odd, as in flipped. I guess the visual triggers must be quite subtle.

I tried to leave a comment on your site but the Visual Verification image would not display.

Sorry to hear that Dave, can't really do anything about it becasue that's a Blogger thing.

Thanks for your feedback here though. Now I want to know which ones people are sure about, and which ones they have to guess...

The two that were a complete guess for me were 3 and 9.

The others all appeared to look more natural one way round or the other if you see what I mean. Possibly itís that the others had strong asymmetrical elements Ė like animals facing one way or strong shadows. The one I was most sure about was 1 it had nothing to do with the composition Ė I assumed it was the driverís door that was open.
