Sorry you had to sell your gear if you would rather have kept it but when the time is right you will have the joy of replacing it all, good luck and be back soon.

As an dedicated cyclist (and just back from a training ride) I think I feel for you twice as much as the the posters :? At least I know cyclists are just as passionate about their bike than photographers are about their gear if not more. Hope you get back in the game soon!

Thanks everyone for the kind words, will i'm sure only be a temporary absence Once things are sorted out, in the words of Arnie "I'll be back" I know cyclists are just as passionate about their bike than photographers are about their gear if not more. Dead right Joe and it came down to the ca...

Oh yes the old Merlin won't be going anywhere without me Was hoping to take it to Idaho next year, but that's a bit up in the air now Sold my tourer a while back, but its certainly a nice way to get about Get out there and field test the ruggedness and weather proofing, what better way to spend...

New K20D
I'm not sure if you are asking for comment on the shot or not, I think it is an interesting shot and could have been more so if you had taken the light reading a little further into the cafe so the expression of the animated girl were clearer, think perhaps I would have taken her as my point of focu...

Disappearing thread
Yes, But it was in General Chat ... and looking at cached pages proves me correct. After posting I did a "Back" looked at the "New K20D thread with a picture of a bike in Cambridge, another "Back", then wanted to add to the kitchen thread and it has "done a runner".

No Pentax rangefinder.
As far as I know, Pentax have never produced a rangefinder camera. Neither compact or interchangable lens, type. The sixties and seventies, were awash with compact rangefinders, from countless manufacturers. Olympus, Canon. Konica, Minolta, Yashica, etc. Nothing like that from Asahi, though. I won...

No Pentax rangefinder.
I've never liked the Leica rangefinders. I was lent an M3 which I did try, but I thought it bulky, heavy and the viewfinder was dreadful. Not a patch on the Pentax ME Super. Did it take better pictures? Not really, no. The screw thread leicas were at least smaller and quite nice in a way, but sti...

and the slow to use rangefinders. Funny how we all differ. I bought my first brace of Leicas back in the 70s, for their speed of use compared to the Nikons, especially in low light where the beautiful Canon 35mm 2 came into its own. You could whack straight in on focus in the most appalling ligh...

No Pentax rangefinder.
I did see a Pentax 110 SLR a couple of years back, with its own velvet lined box. I looked stunning. Never bought it though, wish I had, as even if 110 cartridges we no longer available, it would still be an item to behold and keep. As for Leica rangefinders, they are beautifully engineered and look...

Why i am switching from Pentax to Nikon
Its a great camera, but its NOT a professionals camera ... That depends ;) TBH, I think you'll find that the "bounce" and stuff out of Nikon is largely down to the post production skills, rather than the camera. It'll be interesting to hear just how much of a jump you find it initially. But th...

I REALLY don't think that any other system is going to improve on 99% of your photography. I have looked at your site, and the only thing that I can say is that you haven't learnt to use your pentax camera well enough to produce the results that you aim at. , Well thats for me to find out isnt it :)...

Why i am switching from Pentax to Nikon
The max synch speed of 1/180th is a misnomer. With a Pentax gun equipped with HSS mode it'll synch at any shutter speed throughout the entire range. No use for studio flash mind, but then, if you have static subjects, why do you need it faster? The duration of the flash itself is much shorter tha...
