Wanted - Camera Insurance

Some policies also say that your equipment should not be left in your car overnight if you can take it indoors (eg a hotel room or your home). Not sure about G&H but my policy says it can be left in the back of a hatchback/estate providing the cover is in place. Another important point to consid...

why is pentax so noisy?

The new lenses with built in ultrasonic motors will be whisper-quiet compared to the ones driven by a motor in the camera body. They should also focus quicker. That's progress. Pentax aren't charging a premium for something free with Nikon - the 16-50mm is a pro-spec top of the range lens and com...

why is pentax so noisy?

None of my SMC Takumars make any noise whatsoever and focus accurately in lightning fast time... your lenses make a little noise? What are you photographing that is upset by them?

why is pentax so noisy?

Well, if it doesn't compare to D300, maybe it is because there is a considerable price difference, at least in Norway. Speaking to Chris @ SRS I think retail price will be about £1100 so about the same as the D300 right now. could be wrong here. 1: Nikon users get nothing for free. In fact, they...

Shame on you bragging about having multiple taks... :P Actually the rabbits in Arthur's Seat are kind off alert littl...

why is pentax so noisy?

For those who are mystified by some comments above, SMC Takumars are manual focus lenses, and therefore the focusing is very quiet indeed.

Value of equipment for insurance?

Hi all, Some of you may remember my post from a while back about picking up some cameras and lenses from my dad back in Canada. Well, I have and now I need to figure out the value of it for insurance purposes. Due to circumstances I need to determine a value quite quickly. Below is a list of what...

Pentax Customer Service – A story for the cynical...

Here it goes, I’ve shut up for months. For months I have been reading angry posts of angry customers and forum members appalled by the disgusting Pentax customer service; and for months I have claimed that they were exaggerating, and that customer service is rubbish everywhere, and many many other r...

Pentax Customer Service – A story for the cynical...

I may have a few words to add under this subject in near future, but so far still waiting for any answer from a Pentax representative I've spoken to and exchanged few emails with, I'm waiting to get any answer, even if that is going to be ("no chance"), still better than completely nothing back (and...

Pentax Customer Service – A story for the cynical...

What I really don't appreciate is the continuous complaint against a service that ACTUALLY, is completely normal. In all companies there will be good CS and bad CS. I disagree that bad service is part of any company. Good companies make sure to stamp out immediately any bad CS from within the ...

Pentax Customer Service – A story for the cynical...

I am still waiting for my K20D to come back from Pentax presuming that is who LCE sent it back to in April! Last I heard they said they were waiting for parts. LCE keep saying "Pentax said" so I guess that is who has had it for 10 weeks now.

Thanks TTK, I might do that this week. When I get it back I might sell my K200D if the 20D is as good as new :D

Pentax Customer Service – A story for the cynical...

I want't be getting into details, clue is, getting any reply from a representative (even if that was going to be outcome of a bit informal chat) is better (and doesn't matter if it says "no way", "can't do anything") than no reply at all, no complaint here, just a back to reality ;).

STOP CLOSING MY POSTS!!!

I'm sure it's tremendous fun, but also unhelpful and I expect that you're wondering how long my patience will hold...there was a similar trend when the forum design was changed and we listened to some pretty dreadful stuff then. But to summarise, whether or not the original thread should have bee...

STOP CLOSING MY POSTS!!!

I've left the computer for 4-5 hours and come back to 3 extra pages of stuff. Great conversation going on here. Matt, a couple of considerations: When you talk about other people, and other people's attitudes towards you in particular, try and be informed, and provide information in the correct...

Now I am just hoping that I managed to get my thoughts across without offending anybody, British or not :). Now, I feel offended! Everybody should know that Italians (and French Canadians) have Latin blood. The way to express oneself in Italian and French (as well as other languages havi...

STOP CLOSING MY POSTS!!!

Indeed, you see there is a forum policy for some things, and one of those is that it's a Pentax User forum, for Pentax and general photography purposes, but not other marques. Other things that tend to disappear are certain pharmaceutical adverts and posters who are promoting some commercial ente...
