You will find that we are all identified as "Pentax User Team" so the information is freely available.
You can also look at the Admin Team list, actually labelled Pentax User Team but I don't think Matt and I are on that section.
Alternatively any problems can be put into a report.
There are plenty of avenues to communicate with the Team, and the Team are always happy to hear from you.
I now know there are more mods but i've only seen John close posts down so this is why there seems to be only one mod

With respect John, PentaxDan and Peter are 9 to 5, Monday to Friday and Mattmatic 95% of the time while he,s at work, therefore that leave's you to cover the rest of the time, maybe it would help to have more Mod's on the forum if only to free you up to do your own thing.

Thank you Tel, but I am actually "doing my own thing" right now! None of us ever sleep you know!

I've left the computer for 4-5 hours and come back to 3 extra pages of stuff. Great conversation going on here.
Matt, a couple of considerations:
When you talk about other people, and other people's attitudes towards you in particular, try and be informed, and provide information in the correct way.
What I have written to John was absolutely justifiable in our conversation, had you read it, perhaps you would appreciate the non-offensive nature of my remarks.
Furthermore, please, don't quote only what you like - quote the whole post if you are trying to make a point about how rude I have been to you.
And just to clarify, the sentence that so much upset you was a perfectly legitimate one. I have learnt photography before I bought a camera, and learnt the manual before I used the camera. I, therefore, don't find that sentence in any way offensive (that's the 'but this is just me' part)
But I understand that you, in your country, with your polite manners and great sense of moderation, surely would be offended by this disgusting italian way of doing things. I Britishly apologise for any offence I have done to you. Can I still stay in your country, and pay my 35% tax?
(BTW, FYI, I haven't had any posts deleted around here, I know what are the limitations of my freedom of speech, and NO, in a democratic society you have to commit a crime before you are convicted for it; a moderator has no right over one's opinion, if this is within the boundaries of decency and respect.)

Edit: rearranged the quote to fit in the white box.

I would never use program mode, and would also learn something about how a camera works....
but this is just me.
ANyway dont use ISO higer than 400 if possible. Look at this video and try to understand the settings - applying them to the on-camera flash. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NEmufNi70w
Good luck
This was my post that upset you so much. Perhaps you should read it again, and appreciate the fact that I've spent my time to find a great source of information for you, and you haven't even said 'thank you'. Oh, Apologies to John for having added some more to this thread, I was called upon, and would have left it otherwise.

IMHO John and the other moderators of this forum are doing a great job keeping the site running nice and smooth. Thank you all!
However, being members of an international forum, I believe we all should think twice before putting anything in writing. There are cultural differences, and ways of expressing oneself that may well come out differently when read by people from other cultures.
Speaking for myself, I know that writing something that would be perfectly acceptable in Norwegian could be both offending and insulting when translated to English. And I guess the same could be true for Italians and Canadians as well.
Over the years I have spent quite some time working on British soil, and I have learned to really appreciate the proper use of the English language. I have also seen how Norwegians have made enemies in Britain just because they did not know how to use the language.
Now I am just hoping that I managed to get my thoughts across without offending anybody, British or not .

Everybody should know that Italians (and French Canadians) have Latin blood. The way to express oneself in Italian and French (as well as other languages having Latin origins) is quite different than the way used by those having Germanic origins (I hope I use the proper word here). What seems harsh to you is quite normal for us.
Now, coming back to the original topic, I re-read the original thread started by Nathan, and I couldn't see anything that could degenerate in World War 3. It actually seemed quite civilized compared to some other fora I've seen, so I'm still trying to figure out why it was closed.

I've looked agin at the thread in question this morning and it seems very sanitised now, mainly because the offending sections seem to have been edited out by some posters. It actually seemed quite civilized compared to some other fora I've seen, so I'm still trying to figure out why it was closed.
As it stands, there's no reason to lock it, so I'll be releasing it shortly. In any event, we can be encouraged by Nathan's original tale that customer service is not dead yet.
Best regards, John

Hi,
I have been watching this thread for a while now fasinated at how it has been kept going. I have no opinion on the discussion taking part. I just wondered if you had noticed that all the contributors to the debate are male? I thought it was only women that had to have the last word
And no I won't add any more posts just to ensure that I do

I just wanted to add a quick word on John's defence on the issue of one comment essentially that he removed from this thread in particular. He has also justified that leaving my comment made no sense as it was in response to the comment that needed to be deleted.
And as Martin also has mentioned it was really a comment that would have flared up emotions here to the extent that the issue of closure of the other thread would have even seemed tiny in comparision.
I fully support him in removing that. That was an excellent judgement call and I can assure you that if that had been left there this thread would definitely have turned pretty nasty. My comment was particularly in response to that one trying to soothe the tone of the previous comment and asking the OP to take it a bit easy. I remember even adding that this thread was on the verge of being closed.
Thankfully John immediately noticed it and removed it before it exploded into a nasty argument.
We certainly wouldn't have been having the continuing discussion more amicably in my opinion on this thread and it would have been rightly closed in my view.
