Pentax service...
One thing forgot to mention in OP - the K10D seems better than before in that they have re-aligned the sensor so what is horizontal in viewfinder is also horizontal in the picture. Also the back focus problem is not as bad. Andy

Tripods
I have an old but solid tripod which is fine for most things but has two great failings. 1 It can't get very low down and even if the centre column did intentionally reverse it would be really fiddly as it has come out now and again and been awkward to get back in. 2 More irritatingly it's d...

But does it shoot straight down readily? Sure does: Using the old version of the Manfrotto 055PRO. On the old one you have to split the column by unscrewing it using the knob on the bottom, pull it out of the vertical mount, slide it into the horizontal mount and screw it back together a...

Water droplet... WOW
Hi Amin, The following link may help a bit. Basically you have an infra-red beam transmitted to a sensor LED that is connected to a trigger circuit. When something interrupts the beam (eg water drop or insect), the trigger circuit is activated and will then send a signal to fire, eg, a flash...

friendly forum
Well, I have tried a few forums, some are hostile to be honest, went to one today and answered a topic on pentax/canon, it would seem that some replies felt very aggresive to me. To be honest I was glad to get back to this forum:P My thoughts are that Pentax owners are a friendly bunch8) Regard...

friendly forum
I often go to another site and yes the users their seem like a very wild and agressive bunch. It's nice to come back here and fall into the safety net of Pentax User. There are some moaners here, like me, but I feel we all pull together when we need a bit of TLC...... Oh throw me a sick bag :sho...

Tina Turner!!
Back in February I bought my Pentax and a Sigma long zoom in readiness for a TT live concert at the O2 Arena, beginning of March. As I entered the Arena, the usual security check was examining all bags including my photo kit. They found my camera and asked, "is the lens on this camera detachable...

Tina Turner!!
I too phoned the venue before I went, to be told that I could take photos but no mention was made as to how sophisticated or otherwise the camera should be!! Many people were using flash that would just about light up the back of the head of the person in front of them ;) I agree, taking photos c...

Tina Turner!!
I never take a camera - I have seen too many thrown in a bin before the owners were admitted. In this day and age with phone cameras flashing all around me it does get frustrating, but I would not risk it. Just be grateful they locked your camera away safely and you got it back again.

Tha howler thread.
You know how sometimes you open up an image for the first time and you marvel at it's pin sharpness, beautiful bokeh, stunning composition and perfect exposure? Other times you are not quite so impressed. The following shot was taken with a K20d and DA*50-135 - a combination that has taken mil...

Tha howler thread.
It seems that the focus lies near the red fence in the middle of the photo. it still looks very remarkable.

Camera gear, and holidays abroad in the early 1970's.
Just some random thoughts about why I so like the digital age where you can capture so much with one camera body and just a couple of lenses. In my case a K10 and 16-45, 55-300. (Admittedly, not the smallest of bodies these days, or the most compact combination of lenses, but a wonderfully flexible ...

Novice Buying Traits Question
What does LBA stand for - I suspect I have it:lol:. Though perhaps I am fortunate in only having limited opportunities to address my affliction - there is nothing available here in Ethiopia, though I'm moving to Sri Lanka soon where I might be more vulnerable:wink:. Also, as the summer holiday...

Lens/Camera Care in Tropical Conditions
I was near Accra at teh University of Legon which wasn't swampy but then I can't think of many swamps per se in Ghana. There was the bush which would probably have been damper but in the rainy season it was pretty damp and things did get mouldy if not aired and used. I can recall being pretty pissed...

Motion sensor trigger for triggering shutter
And I thought my shed was always a partially secretive place . Seen only through the reflection of the bubbles. Dont know how Paul managed to get that image of my shed at all. That is the exact shed I have. Oh there is a sign and a red light missing outside the door saying "DO NOT ENTER IF RED...

Pentax K-7 meet, Sunday 14th June - Wiltshire!
Met up with Steve and Danny at Laycock today. Some quick shots Danny had secured a shady location in the Red Lion's garden! Steve decides to test the K-7 on the longest tele-zoom Pentax ever made, the K 135-600 f6.7! They check the image and decide that using Live View i...
