smoke images, colour added during PP or not?
Craig, we are talking smoke images, not just light or toys colours I know but you still need something to create the Light Refraction. If i can be bothered setting up my Home studio i will do some for you. Smoke is smoke. You need to create the colour therefore you need to focus the light to the...

smoke images, colour added during PP or not?
Stefan From my experience if you increase the ISO to those numbers you are bound to have so many grains in the smoke that it ruins it. Also the F stop so wide how can you get the focus on the wobbly smoke? Naah, there is definitely much more to it than meets the eye. I will have to do some mo...

smoke images, colour added during PP or not?
From my experience if you increase the ISO to those numbers you are bound to have so many grains in the smoke that it ruins it. Canon 5D is a full frame camera they handell high iso noise better and also with smoke you don't have a lot of fine detial so throwning over a noise reduction at higher the...

New camera bag
I purchased a Lowe Pro Nature Trekker back pack thinking this has bags of room (forgive the pun) for my ever growing list of kit. However I now find that I tend to wander about with one camera, two lenses, polarizer , tripod and two filters fitting neatly into the free bag that came with it, probabl...

New camera bag
I think a lot of this is down to personal choice. I have a Mini Trekker AW which just about holds my kit (although it is a squeeze) but at 5'11" I do find that after walking any distance it starts to hurt as it rests too far down my back. It does have a big plus in that it is airline hand-luggag...

Lens cap retainers
I usually put the cap on my pocket, walk around with the lens uncapped but allways with a hood. If I switch lenses I usually put the cap back on. I dont find it confortable to be constantly putting the cap on and of. I dont wan to be recklees with my gear, but I want to be confortable shooting a...

Lens cap retainers
I tend to walk around with the lens cap stuffed in my holster camera bag. I used to pop it back on after every photo, however I once did this without removing my polarizer, and now have some very nice rings round the edge of the glass.

Extremely tight fitting hood of Pentax DFA 100mm Macro Lens
John Yes the right hood. I just confirmed it, its the only one with 49mm filter lens I have. I had left it since yesterday with the hood on as I was afraid of taking it out, but now tried to remove it, it was quite a struggle, definitely more than double the force that I would usually use to rem...

What to take on holiday
I'm just back from a trip to Florida and the Airline had a 5Kg limit for Hand luggage. Assuming you don't want to risk your precious camera gear in the hold, what would you pack for the holidays?

I'm just back from a trip to Florida and the Airline had a 5Kg limit for Hand luggage. Assuming you don't want to risk your precious camera gear in the hold, what would you pack for the holidays? Camera body + expensive wide angle + expensive standard zoom lens in the hand luggage. Budget telephoto ...

What to take on holiday
Weight and size were checked when we flew out from London for honeymoon recently (6kg) but flying back from LAX, it seemed as if you could take anything, one guy had a heavy suitcase, a laptop bag, and 2 other items of hand luggage! When I complained to the cabin crew, as I had spent £100 on a n...

What to take on holiday
The airline didn't actually weigh my hand luggage when I flew last time anyway despite stating a limit. That was Zoom - sadly now defunct. We went with Thomson Fly and I thought they were quite cute. They did not weigh the hand luggage going out, but did coming back, after the wife had raided the cl...

Backpack advice
My preference would be the Tamrac Adventure 6. I have the model 7x of this bag and it is truly excellent. The slingshot has only one strap which makes it convenient for swinging round from you back to your front but can end up being painful as it puts all the weight on one shoulder. It's a lot bette...

Am I the only Pentaxian who is also a computer geek?
AMD CPU's have supported SSE2 since the Athlon64 and SSE3 since mid way through the A64's run. Current Phenoms support SSE4 That's good to know. I bet Adobe were disappointed when all the AMD customers they thought they'd got rid of with v2 returned. Can't understand why these companies don't want c...

Pentax service...
I did a very silly thing a few weeks back - I decoded to see if K10D and 17-70 lens could fly. It couldn't (I took the holster bag off the soulder too quickly having not done it up - so camera and lens hit the ground). Everything still worked fine, except smashed lens hood, K10D's rear control wheel...

Pentax service...
I would keep the Lens for a month in case they realise there mistake and ask for it back. And if they dont sell it. Call it compensation for poor service. I wish they had sent me a brand new replacement K20D instead of 2 faulty reconditioned ones.

Pentax service...
I hope your going to return the extra lens sent by mistake? shim Would you? I'd sent a letter to the Pentax UK "Big Cheese" and let him see what incompetents he has on the service side and if he wants the lens back send someone to collect it. Alternatively send £50 to cover my time, packing and p...
