Pentax K-7 meet, Sunday 14th June - Wiltshire!
Nope, that's still there! This one looked absolutely mint, even the box didn't seem to have a mark on it! Not used to this manual focus malarkey, but took this with it!

PENTAX stores in San Francisco
I know LA and Orange County like the back of may hand. I spent 1 week a month there for 5 years! But I don't know too much about SF. However, I will suggest you find a branch of in N California. The stores are a bit quirky but you get some great bargains there - especially on memory cards. ...

PENTAX stores in San Francisco
I have always found camera stores to be very thin on the ground in the US. Even more so than here. Walmart don't actually seem to have Pentax Dslrs btw - I had a look when we were in a couple. In fact last year in New Mexico and Arizona I went to a few shops I found on the Pentax site and only one o...

TBA - Tripod Buying Addiction!
As it's traditional that we share experiences about new gear, I felt I had to post this. ;-) I recently parted with my superb Gitzo 2220 Aluminium Explorer and my offset and geared heads as I just couldn't carry them around any more (approx 4kgs) and have been using my small Velbon Ultra Luxi F w...

K10's get em while you can!
K20 is only £519 at SRS with free postage to us, so actually cheaper than those K10's! Makes you wonder if they just found them in a box at the back of the warehouse though!

Pentax sport optics
I think the best solution is to go to a dealers and try a few pair out and pick what suits your own personal preferences and feels right. I've had all types and won't go back to using heavy bulky non-zoom binoculars ever again. shim

Airport Security
I am all for security, but how far does it have to go? I put my backpack in the tray to be x-rayed. (Brussels’s Airport) The security guard did not like the way I put it in. He picked it up and slammed it down in the try the way he wanted it. All my camera equipment was in it. I almost yelled at the...

Airport Security
It has not been OK to take a tripod on board a plane since 9-11. Quite apart from using the thing as a cosh you could have stuffed the legs with explosives. All checked bags go through explosive detectors so they are allowed as checked bags. If you treat the security guys with respect they do the...

Airport Security
Cruise ships also have pretty strict security Stefan, as does the Eurostar from London for instance. Since a cruise ship reacts much slower than an aircraft it would be very difficult to actually cause casualties in the manner you refer to. None of the extra security has put people off travelling...

photography and the law
I was in the Gambia - at te airport waiting for my flight home. Camera around my neck, beer in hand. An armed soldier wandered up and asked if I had taken any pictures. No I had not and it had a new film with just one exposure so I would not loose anything. We got talking and he did a litt...

photography and the law
There are some places which charge for professionals, and some Native American areas charge for cameras, professional or not. But on the whole you are free to photograph in any National park in the US, with any camera and tripod. I can understand that security is a bit touchy somewhere like DC, but...

America take a lot of photos before they bomb something even when they did something horrible they photograph it. Necessary Evil sometimes referred to as Plane # 91 was the name of a B-29 Superfortress (B-29-45-MO 44-86291, victor number 91) participating in the atomic bomb attack on Hiroshima on...
