Laptop for my trip to India
I got what I thought was a very good deal from Dell on a Vostro 1700 with a 17" screen, 3 Gig RAM and impressive battery life but it's huge and heavy! If you get it via Small Business I think you can 'downgrade' to XP from Vista. I wouldn't want to take it on holiday. I looked at the Acers but they ...

Laptop for my trip to India
Further to my fraught search of image back-up for my trip away, I have since been told of a gadget that came out 3-4 years ago called an APACER DISC STENO CP100/200, which looks just the job. However, I have tried to locate one new or SH for sale and can't. Has anyone an ideas where I might lo...

Laptop for my trip to India
Well I am coming to the conclusion that relying on a storage device is not a good idea and I am not going to lug a lappie around - So MikeW I am going with your suggestion, take as many cards as I can reasonably afford and just download onto discs at cyber cafes as and when I can. It is at times...

How Pentax User Ruined My Photos
I thought that title would make you look!!!! I've just dug out a load of old photos I took with my MESuper as I remembered one or two which may be suitable for this week's competition. Looking through them, I am now seeing lots of errors that I didn't notice before. Photos which I thought were...

How Pentax User Ruined My Photos
I find the problem is less with my own photos and more with other peoples. I hasten to add, not because mine are in any way flawless, but just because I wont get upset with myself for not liking my own photos! Most of my friends and family are not photographers, but most of them do take photos (m...

How Pentax User Ruined My Photos
I remember some years back having a holiday snaps slide show with a friend. Mine were all nicely exposed slides of ruined castles and old churches. Good competent pictures, and dull as ditchwater. Ideal for lecturing about the buildings which was mainly what they were for. My friend, who rarely s...

Personalised Number Plates
I have my own private plate (which is on my dads car at the moment as its no good here). Cost me a fair bit quite a few years ago, its only numbers followed by my initials but when I had my first son I made sure he had the same initials as me so when the time came I could pass it on to him. We do...

Sharpness or content or hobby
Weekends are like off periods in school, where life starts living then and there only. Woke up this Saturday with Sun and thought of going for a visit to the car boot sale with my camera and for my camera. Had Pink Floyd in my ears, 50mmf1.7 on my K100D and tears in my eyes for the cold biting win...

Fired many shots. Didn't kill anything.
I was thinking along the lines of when the gun calls "pull" press the shutter release and keep it going for both shots. Really just out of interest to see what it might do and what I can capture. I have used it to capture someone Spey casting and that looks quite good when played back at correct...
