I would Like To..................

... my tests show that each of my Pentax AF lenses needs a different focus offset. The K20D handles it, the K10D doesn't. .. I am surprised to hear that... how much out of focus are we talking here and which in particular lenses Peter? Pentax FA 100mm Macro, Pentax DA* 50-135mm (needed a different o...

I would Like To..................

The others needed anything between +60um and -20um adjustment. I now have the K10D set up for the DA* 300mm. Why else would they build in the ability to make these per lens adjustments? Answer, because it's needed. How do you go about making this 'um' adjustment on K10D please, is it in...

I would Like To..................

The "debug menu" is is supposed to be a facility for service engineers only, so it's not mentioned in the manual. In fact it's not directly accessible if you have the latest firmware installed. There is a Russian software utility that gets you into it. It's best not to touch the adjustment, thoug...

Pentax change distribution

Funnily enough if you follow the link Pentax is correctly spelt in the address bar. I wish they'd do the same in Holland and bring back Pentax NL.

My K10 Stopped Working

I was going to a job in Lochinver on the West Coast of Scotland, and I know a spot on the road where, if the conditions are right, there is some fantastic scenery. Well, I left Inverness about 06:30 and it was heavy rain, I got near to Ullapool and the clouds were beginning to part and I could see s...

My K10 Stopped Working

Tried the lenses on my DS, and they work ok, so it appears to be K10 at fault. Looking into the lens mount of both camera's there is a spring loaded leaver / linkage that I would assume holds the lens aperture wide open when on the A setting. As you move the on/off switch to preview, this linkag...

My K10 Stopped Working

Great news. I expected that a bit of Scottish engineering know-how would do the trick. Now, can I send you the bits from my AF280T which I once rashly disassmbled, and now can't put back together? G

My K10 Stopped Working

Picture 'A', below shows the correct position of all the parts when the ON/OFF switch is pushed to the preview position. I have coloured some of the parts to make it easier to see. The assembly coloured yellow moves to the up position. Also seen here is the spring arm, coloured red , which pull...

My K10 Stopped Working

I had the same problem a few months ago. I did the repair you outlined here, but after a couple of outings the camera failed with the same issue. I couldnt find the spring second time round so it went back to Pentax for repair. I hope your repair is more succesful.

E-Bay Scam

I was almost caught up in a scam. I saw a brand new K20 listed for just 310quid bin, it was only listed 10mins previous and it was listed as an unwanted prize. I quickly clicked the bin button. It seemed a little too good to be true and I was a little suspicious so I messaged the seller and ...

E-Bay Scam

A while back someone apparently hacked into my eBay account, not for a scam but to spam. A Chinese company seemimgly was sending spam looking for distibutors using the Ask Seller a Question feature. What did intrigue me was that their obviously spamming message got polite, negative responses from se...

Whereabouts are you?

eve lori-eh? Last year I tried to ground one of my boys for swearing. I didn't understand what he was saying, turns out he was practicing for a French Exam. It all worked out in the end....the grounding gave him plenty of uninterupted study time. He gets mostly A's. With teens, one should always e...

Evil Inventor

Saw a guy at Just for Laughs in Montreal a few years back who included something like this in his act. He had a backpack blower with a nozzle coming around either side, one for each hand, and had two rolls of toilet paper on each nozzle... You could do that - twice the payload - just wire the seco...

American cameras

I was given a Kodak Aero-Ektar 178mm f2.5 : I have dated it at 1943 :I had a mount made to take my Pentacon Six ( before I got my Pentax 6x7)and use it to focus with the P6 bellows unit. It is pin sharp stopped down to f11 or f16 for portraiture and also at f4 for more distant work. It is 'Radioacti...

where do you usually buy Pentax gadget?

I've bought items from the US (B&H), Canada (Henrys) and several far eastern suppliers. Items from America/Canada have worked out cheaper than buying in the UK, however, once you've paid for shipping and customs duties not by as much as you might think! They can also take some while (a couple of we...

where do you usually buy Pentax gadget?

Like many people who don't like spending more than they have to, I've looked into this many times. It doesn't always work out much cheaper than buying here if you sit and work it out. For instance, the Pentax 300mm DA* is £799 delivered from SRS Microsystems. The same lens is $1099.99 from ...

where do you usually buy Pentax gadget?

Like many before me I have often compared prices and wonder how some people claim to make massive savings. I cannot find any. In fact checking overseas prices against UK I have concluded that in general "rip-off" Britain is not such a rip-off after all when it come to photo and computer kit.:) ...

Introduction

Serendipity: I was evacuated to Rochdale, Delemere Road: when the Germans started bombing up there from airfields in Norway my Mum said we might just as well go back to east London, which we did!
