I agree with Stephen - the MZ5n does almost everything the MZ3 does. As you are taking slides, the panoramic feature of both these models could be very useful. I am not sure that the MZ-S continues with this feature. I also like the conventional shutter speed dials of the 5n/3 models and I can conf...

What to buy - seeking comments
Unless you need some of the 'extra' features on the MZ3 over the MZ5n I would be more inclined to save the cash and go for the MZ5n. There are some great deals about at the moment (less than £300 including 28-80 lens). I have found it to be a brilliant little camera which has tempted me back to Pent...

MS-S BG-10 and IR TV remote control
I had read on a forum the possibility to operate by remote control one camera with an infra - red remote control for television. Test on Pentax MZ-S and grip BG-10 my IR TV remote control: - Philips Universal, model SBC-RU-510 (5xx serie...): code = 0069 (Pentax Vcr) Function with the key...

Pentax z1 vs Cannon EOS3000 - comparision
Nithy, That's a real shame about your Z1. Regarding your question about the two cameras: it's like comparing a Jaguar E-type with a Nissan Micra. You are not comparing like-for-like. The Z1 (although old) was a top of the range Pentax, built like a tank (but not mountain proof, but built to...

MZ-S users wanted - Add your views to ePHOTOzine camera tests
Richard for some reason the forum came up with every post, dating wat back as unread. Whilst it was fascinating to read some of them it was frustrating too, to spot the new ones. I just marked everything as read and have started again. It seems to be fine again now.

Z1 manual
are there alternative sites for manuals? i need one for sf7(europe model), or which version is identical. sf1n? sf10 could be identical to sf7. i have found a manual. has no manull iso-setting, no continious autofocus. focus-priority only. heavy camera, stiff 70-210 zoom-ring. precise autofocus(in...

Manufacturing Quality
My first foray into the world of Pentax photography was the MX, which is still one of my favourites. Like Peter I found the M series lenses superb, and a world away from the independent lenses I had used on my first SLR (a Praktica MTL3). In terms of autofocus cameras I have had long and fautless se...

MZ-S Forum - A site for the discussion of the MZ-S and AF360FGZ flashgun
I bought my MZ-S in February along with the optional battery pack. The camera feels good in use and with the battery pack the weight is perfect (I prefer my cameras to have a bit of weight to them). My only complaints/niggles are the eyecup is easy to dislodge and lose and at £14 not a cheap i...

The other small niggle I have with the MZ-S is the sound - a hamster sneezing..... how else to describe it? My other Pentaxes (Pentaxii?) are all manual focus albeit without motorwinders built in. The LX with motordrive emits a most satisfactory sound. Derek

MZ-S Forum - A site for the discussion of the MZ-S and AF360FGZ flashgun
It has been quiet these past few days on this board - made me feel very guilty about not posting my initial impressions of the MZ-S, so here goes. First batch of slides have been returned and I am delighted to say that they are all well exposed (not a duff one amongst them - at least not due to ...

Hi WJ Bons, Interesting post ;) I pressume you're referring to the MZ-S? If so, I'll comment on some of the points you have highlighted: "- It uses a lot of battery. I do not use flash ( have a metz attached) " I'm not sure how fast is fast, but I've shot a typical Chinese wedding cere...

i brought my camera to a pentax service point. i believe it is leaking power, also when turned off! i set a message in a newsgroups and already got messages back from 2 people who experience the same! so i believe there is a problem with the fabrication of this mz-s or the battery pack.

Old camera new lens - which will fit
One of the terrific things about the Pentax system is that all lenses will work on all bodies, within the limits of the body used. So, the latest lenses are quite happy on the P30 but will only work in manual focus, aperture priority and manual (also program mode on the P30T). You can even use all t...

Old camera new lens - which will fit
John, SRB in Luton will probably make, or be able to make, an adaptor to fit bayonet lenses on to a screw thread body (that get's you off the hook for being wrong) the problem is the adaptor would act like a small extension tube and would mean the lens would no longer be able to focus on infinity.

Old camera new lens - which will fit
Gordon, I can confirm what John has said about the compatability and quality, and maybe go one step further to ease any concerns you may still have. I have used the FA28-80 in manaual focus mode on both a P30 and LX with no problems, even when replacing the lens on an MZ5n to use in autofocus mod...

MZ-S AE-L Contradiction ?
Just purchased the MZ-S (love it!) However, in the manual, it illustrates auto exposure lock by taking a photo of a girl on a big street ...trees, houses etc ...it tells you to "zoom in" on the girl in order to achieve proper exposure on her, hit the AE-L, then it SHOWS another photo clearly zoomed ...

MZ-S AE-L Contradiction ?
AE-L works regardless of zooming in/out or not. Focus, meter, lock, recompose any way you want either by changing the angle of view/picture content/zooming, shoot. Sadly no idea what might be wrong with your camera.
