From those lenses I'd probably go with the 35mm as well.

Though it really should be the one you're least comfortable with otherwise there's not much of a challenge!

I think it unlikely that they will. Their stated reason is their use of a single user database for handling the catalogue.

But what if the catalogue files were stored in 'the cloud', like Google Drive, where each machine running Lightroom also has Google Drive installed?

I'm thinking that once the catalogue has been modified by one machine, switching to another machine would synch its copy of the catalogue, and as long as all machines have the same drive letter assignments for the network/NAS stored image files, it should be good to go.
The LR database is SQLite format which does support network connections and multiple users reading, just not multiple users writing to it at once so in theory you should be able to put the database on your NAS and let all your PC's use the same one (as long as they aren't all using it together). This is essentially what I would like so that my laptop and desktop can use the same database, I don't try and use Lightroom on both machines at once.

I don't think you can place your database on a drive that isn't local though and I can imagine people corrupting things if they did allow it.

It's time to switch to a new database platform!

I will probably upgrade as long as the price is similar to LR4.

No Vista or Snow Leopard in this beta, not sure if that will be the same for the full version though I'd suspect so.

I'm not sure what features they could have given to LR without overlapping too much with photoshop though there is always room for improvement. With that in mind I'm more hopeful that everything is a bit better.

The one thing that has been missing all the way through is an easy way to sharing over multiple machines without having to mess around with export / import and they still haven't fixed that

I do like it as I was there a couple of weeks ago! On my laptop the sky is a little too saturated for me but that could be my screen.

Did you see any tortoise?

Just some suggestions ...

- check your memory usage in Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Escape to open then select the Processes tab) and sort the memory column - posting an image of this may help
- LR4.4 was released this week, worth updating
- after editing try closing and reopening LR4 before trying to export to see if that helps
- make sure your video drivers are up to date as there have been some LR glitches in the past due to these

If you don't get anywhere then posting your OS and hardware spec's may be helpful.

I never lie if I'm asked though fortunately for me Sarah can't tell one camera or lens from another so I only volunteer the information if I think I can't get away with it.

Joking aside I don't think she really cares one way or the other.
