Glad you found it - I've only just seen your original reply.

I couldn't have told you how to set it anyway as I don't have a K20D (unless it's the same as the K10)

Are you just changing the time zone rather than the time?

From PhotoME (which I only discovered because of this thread - so thank you )

Revision 2.1
Manufacture Date 20 09 2007

which means it may have sat in a warehouse somewhere for 6 months before I bought it, but as I've not yet taken any pictures above 400 ISO I'm not that bothered ...

But I think the moral of the story is still, if you;re happy with the pictures....
Couldn't agree more - I think it's fair to say the pic's I'm not happy with aren't due to the revision number!!

My work colleague has finally ordered his K10D + Mk 2 kit lens from Chris @ SRS.
Did he order the Mark II separately - I thought it only came with the K20D? I got my K10D from SRS about a month ago and it came with the original ... That's not complaining though, I'm quite happy with my lense.

I must admit I just can't imagine going on holiday and not taking photographs. Even before I was really interested in photography as a hobby in its own right, I can't remember a holiday where I didn't have a camera. ....
I can relate to this - when I went on holiday with my best mate I used up nearly twenty rolls of film in two weeks while he brought only 1 with him (though he did buy another whilst away, though he never finished it) - this was back when I knew nothing about photography so when buying film, I assumed that 400 ISO was better than 200 ISO because it was a higher number . This was in Disney World, Florida. Since going digital, even with a P&S I take even more pictures while on holiday.

Looking back it probably does sound a little odd two 24 year old guys going to Disney together

I've always found Windows XP to be very reliable and think it gets a bit of unfair stick - I've installed SP3 on several desktops and laptops in the last couple of days without any issues and will be rolling it out around the rest of the company in the near future.

Moving to Leopard or Linux (or anything else) won't save you from security updates or viruses; you still have to install (patches and anti virus software) and update them and when you do, you should backup any important data. There are less viruses aimed at these OS's but they are still at risk and the numbers are rising. If you go on the internet, then you are probably at risk to some degree.

Don't get me wrong, I'm certainly not saying XP is the best, most feature rich or the most secure - but like any system, if it's well maintained (patches, anti virus, etc) it is reliable, it does do pretty much anything most people would require and it is reasonably secure.

Just thought I would stick up for XP as it's a perfectly good operating system

Can't speak for Vista though - haven't really used it yet ......

The camera comes with a battery + charger so you don't have to have an AC adapter.

Although I'm happy to use 3rd party batteries (well, a decent brand!) I would be wary of using a 3rd party adapter. Theres no reasoning to that - it's just a mental thing

Thanks for the replies and suggestions ...

Gary - thanks I will take a look at IrfanView.

Don - thank you for all the pointers, I will make sure the colourspace is set the same for everything, and thanks for the tips - you have taken a great picture there and it's exactly the kind of thing I hope to do (eventually!) - lot's more practice required though

Hello again - just thought I would follow this up as I think I found something that was affecting the way I 'see' my images.

I thought my issue was with .pef files originally being too pale, but I noticed that if I view .jpeg files through Windows Picture Viewer, or post an image up to a web-site it looks much darker, but when I open that same .jpeg in Silkypix or Lightroom then they look similar to the original .pef file.

So if I open the Creepy3.jpeg shown above in Photoshop it looks very pale but exactly as above in Windows Picture Viewer, is this something to do with colour profiles? I can understand my monitor needing calibration, but I expected it to look the same (ie bad or good) regardless of the application I'm using ...
