Well, that trick didn't work here. Removed all cookies, and strange enough when I start up Firefox and go to the P.U.F. my user name is still visible in the box, the same for the dotted password .
Ah, sorry. I'm not using Firefox (IE7) - does FF store cookies & passwords in the same way/place then?

The site didn't remember me until I deleted my old 'pentaxuser' cookie. It's been fine since and seems to remember me now when I return.

So, are the greenicon/bolding doing the trick for the new post indicator everyone?
This is working for me.

So did there used to be a gallery on the old forum then? I've only spotted it today

To be fair to the administrators of the site it can be a lot of work upgrading a system like this and it isn't always possible to test everything 100% and even though the new site is now live, I would imagine there is still a lot of work to do without having to go looking for bugs and glitches as well. Also it is possible that one person is experiencing a problem that isn't affecting anyone else.

We are implementing a new email system at work and even though we've spent the past 3 months using and testing the new system before 'inflicting' it on the users they do still have issues - but they are expected to let us know about them otherwise we can't fix them.

Having said that I do think it should be acceptable to maybe post any issues you experience in this thread so at least they are all together.

Also, I don't have any problems with the adverts down the side of the page, to be honest I thought they were always there?

Hi David

Thanks for replying so soon. I have just submitted a report - and if I'd read the thread fully before posting I may have noticed your previous post telling us to do exactly that!

Haven't had much of a look round yet but one of the things that doesn't work for me is if I click on 'page 2' of a thread I get the following error

Quote:
The page you are trying to access has moved. Please update your bookmark or website link to the link below:
You will be redirected to the forums.

http://www2.pentaxuser.co.uk/forum

You will be automatically redirected in 10 seconds.
I have to go to page 1 of a thread first and then click on page 2 to read it.

Also, not sure if it's possible, but when viewing the 'Latest Topics' view it would be useful to see which forum category the thread has been posted in (mostly because I check to see if there are any new posts in Classifieds first just in case there is a bargain! )

ok - I just noticed the 'Please submit an error report' link in your post ...

Thanks Gwyn, yes we do fly in to our camp which is why they have such low weight limit.

Did you take any other lenses with you on that trip?

Apologies for posting a what lens thread - but the more I search the more confused I get

I'm lucky enough to be going on holiday to Zambia in June next year (woohoo! only 345 days to go!) and need to plan out my lens road map with an eye on that trip. The safari is going to be split between jeep and walking so something that I can use hand-held (and be happy to carry for several hours) is essential.

I know the Sigma 100-300 F4 (with teleconverter) or Bigma would be ideal, but they are heavy (and expensive!). The other possible 'weight' issue is that we are limited to 12kg, including carry on luggage (though I know people have managed to get away with more than this). Because of this I thought maybe the Pentax 55-300 would be a reasonable compromise?

If I wasn't going on Safari next year I would have already bought this lens (or the Tamron 18-250), but am concerned that it may be too slow to use on this trip (most of the wildlife spotting will be early morning or evening).

I know it may not be quite long enough to catch everything, but I don't mind that too much as I don't want to spend the entire time looking through the lens anyway!

The only other lenses I own are the 18-55 kit lens and a Pentax SMC-A 50mm/f1.7 (I love this lens!) so the Pentax 55-300 would fit in well and give me enough money for either a wide angle (10-20), or faster replacement for the kit lens (Sigma 17-70?).

Thanks to everyone for reading and taking time to reply (hopefully!)
