Nice one... DPR has just opened a new feature, user galleries. What I like is that you can actually upload large sized images even with a free account. Great for people like me who happen to get a good shot or two every couple of months

Just uploading my first two images now... which is taking ages. Let's see if they will show in all their glory once they're online

Hmmm... as you say you're thinking about the SMC FA 50mm 1.4 AND the SMC DA 35mm 2.8 Macro, but think they might be a bit close in focal range, why not look at the 'compromise' - of course ONLY in regard to focal length - in form of the FA43mm ltd? It's expensive, but still the cheapest of the three FA ltds out there, and I personally found it to be absolutely stunning - to the point that I am rather unmotivated to use any of my other lenses...

I have this lens and I am thinking of selling it. It's a very nice classic lens - as discussed at http://www.robertstech.com/vivitar.htm#compatibility - and capable of taking really nice images, but I'm just not using it often enough - I have gone off the zooms a little recently, and I'm not a great shot with manual focus anyway.

It has the A setting, which only some of these Komine-made ones have and which is really helpful. Focuses down to 0.8m between 100 and 210mm focal length. In very good condition for its age, I would say; scratchfree clear optics with just a few tiny specs of dust - much better than most lenses of its age that I have seen, and I went through a few - all mechanics are snappy and/or well dampened. Tiny bit of paint has started to rub of at some edges, hardly noticeable. All in all, a very good sample IMO.

I paid £90 for it not too long ago, and hardly ever used it, so I would be looking at £75. If there's interest, I am happy to take a few pictures and post them - if I can ever figure out how to upload images to the forum . Else I'll put them on flickr.

K100D Super now sold to Pietrach, many thanks. Sorry Phill, good luck with your search, I'm sure something will come up soon.

Out of interest, does anyone know what the Pentax equivalent is? From the image it looks like a D-FA 100mm F2.8 Macro...

Hi Pietrach and Phill,

OK, here's the situation: I listed the camera yesterday around noon on ebay, with the 18-55mm DA-L lens as described above. It has a starting price of just £150, but with a number of K100D Super auctions having just ended at ~£230 (plus freight) and above, and MANY buyers already watching, I have little doubt it will reach a similar level.

So here's my pragmatic solution: I am going to let the auction run for now, but if there has been no starting bid by Wednesday morning, I am ready to cancel it early and sell it to either of you for £205 delivered, with payment as a Paypal gift so I incurr no charges (or plus 3.4% if you prefer to mark it as a payment for goods, your choice). Phill, I offered it to Pietrach first, so he'd have the right of first-refusal. If neither of you still wants it by then, I'll just let the auction run. I hope this is a fair solution.

The Tamron 18-250mm is also on ebay now. If either of you wants it together with the camera, it would be an extra £215 (paypal gift transfer), or £220 if sold/shipped separately.

I'll join the club, Geoff It really is a delightful camera, the Kx. It's just great fun to use and explore, even more so than the K100D. For me personally the way it performs in low light makes it stand out as it allows me taking pictures easily in so many more conditions, without having to balance all the settings and/or pp the images. And since I am not a serious photographer, that's what it is about for me - having fun

I'd be interested in that one... how is it quality-wise? Does it add many stops, distorsion, CA or major loss of sharpness?

Cheers
