Hi All,

I thought I'd post here that I have a number of classic Pentax K mount primes (and a K-x and Tamron 18-250) for sale on ebay - for those who might be interested:

Many thanks,

Does anyone know if the Sigma 2x converter supports AF with the FA43mm Ltd?

Many thanks again for that info, hefty. I never realised that M42 lenses work so well in Av mode, which is quite good... my preferred mode anyway, although, as you point out, non-A k mount lenses don't work so well with it.

Cheers hefty! Hmmm... maybe a silly question but I am not used to non-PK mount lenses at all... what's the technique to take a meter reading if you can't use the green button?

I am thinking of buying a cheap M42 lens for my K-x. Never used any M42 and K mount adaptor, so I was wondering if anyone can help me with a few questions:

1. Can you use stop-down metering with such a combination (i.e. with the green button)?
2. Can I leave the M42 adapter permanently on the lens, i.e. change lenses quickly like any other k mount lens?
3. I read some things about adaptors that have a little spring, and where you need to unscrew the lens first, then remove the adaptor with a tool. Other people were talking about adaptors with a flange that don't need that, which sounds more convenient. Does anyone have first hand info about that?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Received a stock reminder from Walters Photo Video this morning for the Pentax 40mm f2.8 DA SMC Limited, apparently in stock for £249. Soooo tempted myself but that would be just another bad case of LBA since I have an FA 43Ltd already

Anyway, thought this might be interesting to someone, as it's a great lens at a good price.

Thanks guys for your input, and nice shots, Technoblurb. I agree, the DFA 100 WR is a sexy beast... but £500+ is just too much for the kind of use I'd expect from it. (And, of course, I have a non-WR K-x that I don't intend to upgrade soon... love this little beauty.) The DFA (non WR) only came into contention as there are some sales on at £300, else my choice would remain with the Tammy.

Thanks for your input, Jon

Well, I am not really disappointed about the 18-250, it's a good and useful superzoom. However, I recently acquired an old Vivitar S1 200mm F3.0 prime from another forum member, and it beats the Tamron at the same focal length hands down, with slightly better center sharpness (at F5.6) and much much better edges, actually superb sharpness across the whole frame which the Tammy can't match even between F8 and F11. Plus, the manual focus is *amazingly* spot on and precise on my K-x. I will be using this one in the future whenever I want to take a nice tele shot, which made me think that I could sacrifice the longer end of the Tammy if I found a walk around zoom that's considerably better in the shorter zoom range.

Ah well, I think I might be tending more and more to those lovely primes

Another one for you lens gurus out there Just pondering if some of the current offers on the Pentax out there at £300 is worth going for it. I had earmarked the Tamron as a future purchase, after studying the photozone review where it came out a bit better in most aspects, and also because of features (e.g. limiter) and price. Still, £300 for the DFA is tempting.

So, has anyone directly compared the two in terms of image quality, sharpness, contrast, bokeh, and features such as AF speed? Or would anyone vouch for either of them as the most amazing, exciting, life changing, must-have glass?

Cheers for all your input.
