Are you going to tell us which parts of Patagonia you're going to?

note that if you are flying, I'd recommend taking your batteries … into the cabin with you, rather than packing them in your suitcase that's going into the hold of the plane.
My understanding is that you must now carry spare lithium batteries in cabin baggage only - see p5 here.

Something else I just discovered is that they are only two-thirds of the weight of alkalines.

If you want to use non-rechargeable batteries then they should be lithiums, which will last for a very, very long time
And will perform better than alkaline at low temperatures.

What size is A3?

Looking to hang some in my hallway? Sorry to ask, its just that I get confused by figures and numbers.
A3 is the same size as two A4s one above the other sideways.

Patagonia is about 1,200 miles long and includes a wide range of different environments so a lot really depends on where you are going when you get there.

Our experience in Chile's Lake District was of settled, warm weather.

But in the south (Torres del Paine, Tierra del Fuego, El Calafate) the weather was unpredictable in terms of rain/shine. More significant was the wind which could change within minutes from the gentlest of breezes to a gale that literally blew you over (with obvious implications for dust in arid areas).

Having bought a K-5II before Christmas on the understanding that the trade-in deal ended on December 31 I am, like others, somewhat disenchanted that it has continued with a price reduction. Still, I suppose that's the luck of the draw.

if Chris is still following this thread he might care to comment not only about that but about the fact that emails I sent on December 19 and January 6 seeking confirmation that the trade-in had been received and asking about arrangements for repayment haven't been answered.

From what I can make out someone in Adobe made a mistake and whilst, technically, the software is only for licensed users to download Adobe have said they will not pursue others who download it.

This thread in Adobe Community may be of interest.

Downloads page is here.

Mac users should note that most, if not all, are PPC applications and will not run in 10.7 or 10.8 but will run in 10.6 with Rosetta installed, 10.5 or 10.4.
