I have been looking to upgrade my monitor, now with my remaining budget (just bought the 55-300 ) I have pretty much got it down to one of these 2

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dell-Ultrasharp-U2412M-Widescreen-Monitor/dp/tech-data/B...

Anybody who knows their stuff on these please help, open to other options but the budget is pretty much set around this point give or take £20-30.

Part of the reason I am looking at these was the higher resolution.

A vote for llyama here, I have the Pro-Lite E2208HDD and its a cracking bit of kit, viewing angles are very good even though it isnt an IPS panel, colour and sharpness also very good.

The dell ultra sharp, I wouldn't use any thing less than an ips panel now. The dells are colour calibrated out the box too.

An IPS panel is the one to go for - relaxed, accurate colour and excellent sharpness. Also, the angle of view is not critical. We use the Dell 2209WA but there will be plenty of others no doubt.
Best regards, John

The dell can also be rotated into portrait mode which is great for doing portrait shoots on

Looks like the Dell is getting most of the votes.

Glad somebody else is using it Robin, the Dell seems to be the heavier, is the base nice and weighty for rotating the screen, as the room I am in with the computer has one of floors that transmits wobbles to the desk when folk walk by, just a bit of reassurance really.

Thanks

An IPS panel is the only way to go, but I think you know that already. If you don't mind used equipment look on fencebay. I picked up an excellent NEC a couple of years ago for just short of the price your looking to pay. It has a few dead LED's, but calibrates nicely (I can see 16 different shades which I could never get with my old llyama) and holds its settings.

What do you think of this? link

Good luck with the hunt.
As for me, all I know is that I know nothing.

I got bit on ebay once for a LCD monitor once, and the usual once bitten and all that, was also really looking to keep the higher resolution 1920x1200 rather than the 1080p seeing as getting new, it seems that 24" is the minimum for that resolution, thanks anyway.

Dell gets my vote too, I use the 22 inch IPS version and it's excellent, it was slightly tricky to calibrate but once done very impressive
