I think your mystery building is (was) 20 Fenchurch Street
That seems likely as this picture from the Monument shows the characteristic dormer windows in the foreground of the old picture but with an extra floor and roof added above. Link

EDIT: Can't get link to take. Try:

(Any ideas what the neo-classical building with columns in the background is?)

Thinking the building could be the NatWest tower, building started 1970 (ex Wiki).
NatWest Tower doesn't have a square core like your pic, but three lobes, like this.

The one in the distance from the car park... is it one of those car transporters where the nose divided & hinged open for loading.....?
You mean the Bristol Freighter? (This was what I thought might be a Dakota).

That Comet's life with BOAC was March 1959 to November 1965. (Is that a DC-3 staggering in in the distance?)

Cars are early-mid 1960s.

I've recently bought spare batteries for my K-5 II from digi-Quick and have been satisfied with them.

14,000 feet up on the Chilean Altiplano. Dawn at the El Tatio geyser field. -14°C. While wandering around in the steam and ice a very attractive young lady coming towards me throws her arms wide and utters a delighted squeal. Hurriedly trying to work out if I knew her (the wife was one pace behind me) and wondering what she was going to do or say next it was a mixture of let-down and relief when she uttered the single word "Pentax!", indicated her own K10 and passed me by.

In Durham City itself you will need to walk.

Main attractions are, of course, the Cathedral and Castle opposite it and The Bailey (narrow street down the peninsula).

Riverside walks in the gorge are good with good views of the peninsula from the outside of the bend especially to the west. Classic view of Cathedral from Prebend's Bridge at south end of horseshoe.

Also good views from South Street opposite west end of Cathedral and from Gilesgate, especially where the new road (well, it was new in my day there) drops down to the underpass in the town centre. Also from Framwellgate and Elvet Bridges, the railway station and adjacent Wharton Park.

Cathedral and Castle may be floodlit.

Old Elvet and Gilesgate pleasant Georgian houses. Court building on Old Elvet impressive but faces north so go early or late.

Also consider Crook Hall if it's open.

Victoria on Hallgarth Street is well preserved Victorian pub with excellent beer. Colpitts on Crossgate Peth relatively untouched old style pub (Sam Smiths).

Try one of these.

Voltage is immaterial on the basic Spotties as they had a bridge circuit in the meter.

Small Battery Company are reliable, I have used them many times.
