Thanks.
Postie delivered the lens today, really well packed and in excellent condition. Put it on my K-5 and it seems to work just as well as it looks! Thanks Alan!

Do you have lens corrections on? If you do the camera takes a while to process the jpegs

I think we are missing the point on this thread really.

You can take pictures on a £50 P&S or a a £15000 FF Setup. You can mountain bike on a £400 Carrera or a £6000 feather light carbon setup and you can buy a few bottles of beer from your grocery store for a couple pounds or can only quench your thirst with Carlsberg Vintage 3.

So just as every other pass-time/hobby, photography is as cheap or as expensive as you want and can afford to make it.

However I am certain that it would be hard to swallow if your bottle of beer jumped from £2 to £4, the Carrera that was £400 went to £700 overnight and so people (including me admittedly) find hard to swallow the doubling of lens prices from last year.

The 17-50 Tamron is a no brainer. Especially now that the DA 17-70 has increased in price quite significantly. I had one on my Nikon's and loved it.

I now own the DA* 16-50 but only because I got a very decent price s/h and really like the feel and the quality of it. If I had to pay £600 for it I would have gone for the Tamron as IQ wise there is not much to it if anything the DA* has a fair amount more of purple fringing but the Tamron is not weather sealed and it feels rather cheap and plasticky in comparison.

I need to get a feel of how it performs in the outdoors. When I had a few minutes with one at SRS it was inside and the LCD was really rather great. Anyone has the slightest clue how the LCD is on a sunny day in the outdoors?

Still have not decided what I want to do about getting a smaller camera to take backpacking/mtbing/camping but don't want to end up having to guess what the heck I am shooting...

Very much tempted by the OM-D for that job but it will cost me 2K to acquire the camera plus a few useful lenses and I am not sure I am prepared to spend all that. With the K01 I can get it for less than 600 with the 40mm and selling either this or the Ltd 40mm of mine I can have a second body for near £400...

I know a few things I can do with the rest £1600

I'd think the 35,40 and 50 might be a bit too tight at times? I'd get a 21mm and a 35mm especially if you want to go a tiny bit stealth and not have beer cans pointing at people

Push the ISO higher Otherwise you are looking for a very expensive solution into a very rare problem
