Annoying trait with K5 - can this be changed in settings somewhere ?

OK can't think how to explain this briefly, or clearly, so here goes.

I oft take 2-4 shots of same scene - kind of bracketing, but generally just one direction. With my Canon cameras this is a piece of cake - take a shot and I can instantly turn the wheel to reduce shutter speed, and again and again - there is literrally zero delay - so it is nice n quick with my 50D's.

However trying the same thing with my K5 (or 200D for that matter) this doesn't work - there is a delay (that seems for ever) of ..well I'd guesstimate 1-3 seconds (prob 1 or 2 and just feels longer) between pics being taken and turning the dial having any impact. There is a kind of (pain in the ass) workaround whereby tapping the shutter release does sometimes allow me to then turn the wheel and move shutter speed - though oddly it doesn't work every single time.

Does anyone know if there's something I can change in settings to make this behave more like my canons ? I wouldn't even know where to begin to look in the manual.

My k-5 & all my Pentax Dslr changing the shutter speed using the dial has worked instantly, I cannot think of a setting that would do that nor why..

Not as I'm aware of and I only ever shoot RAW.

No I suspect you have it on the nail sir. yes I have that on - with the canons turning the dial must just kick it out of instant preview. Maybe there's no way to do the same on the Pentaxes ...hmmm sounds like I will have to live with it if I want to keep preview on (which I do)

Yeap that's how mine is setup if you wanna view the image and enlarge it just click the play button on the left and the dial zooms in again

If you want a consistent difference betwen frames in a single direction, you can set the camera to do it automatically by setting the auto-bracketing up and then applying exposure compensation. As you apply the compensation, the 'bracket points' move on the number-line so you can shift the neutral point.

For example to set a 5 shot bracket at -0.5, 0, +0.5, +1, +1.5:
1) Set auto bracketing up at 5 shots (front dial), 0.5EV steps (rear dial).
2) Set the exposure compensation to +0.5EV.
3) Camera does the rest.

Thanks for that information. I'd assumed that this was a K5 trait too and just used to half press the shutter button to get rid of the enlarge function.

Less chance of taking another shot by accident then.
