What do they use for solder now? I know lots of components are surface mounted rather than chips in sockets, but thought the actual connections were still soldered. Probably manufactured by the company that put in the cheapest tender

Like I've always said ...don't buy anything from jessops!
Jessops are letting me play with my camera as I pay for it (interest free)

If I'd had to save up to buy it I'd most probably found a different hobby in that time. Would not use Jacobs ( Newcastle branch )they had a lens I'd ordered go to someone in Glasgow. So a 2 hour trip in a bus for nothing!

I think speak as you find is probably the right way to go.

The second Pentax and first digital I bought was a 2nd hand *istDL2. I think it takes decent pics, and I could use the lenses I had from the SFXn film camera, but seems heavy on the batteries but helped me decide to stay with Pentax and upgrade to a K7, now cheap as chips My biggest gripe I suppose is the cost of new lenses, not many bargains on the second hand market either, but there again do I need them. I'm keeping the *ist as I'm told I can play about with IR filters. I want my photography to remain a hobby and not become a chore

It's annoying when prices go down shortly after you bought something, but if it's any consolation, I think the K7 represented a massive bargain even before the latest price slump.
Isn't it the way of the world, I wont say what I paid for my telly but that was 5 yrs ago so I've had 5yrs enjoyment instead of waiting till the price dropped

Has anyone actually read any of the posts in this thread before going off on one about negativity?

I think it was probably my influence. I brought my K7 at the beginning of last month, so there was BOUND to be a glut of them at better prices shortly afterwards!
