When I was trying to improve my technique with a manual Ashai Pentax 135, I was directed to these two articles. Interesting reading and the links in them. Hope they are of some help.

I used to have problems, but once you find the best way to get reliable focus it soon becomes second nature. If you are using the cameras af to alert you, then it is worth finding out if it is more accurate focusing to or from infinity, as the indication can cover a degree of focus ring rotation, and fall accurately at one end or other.
Here are some links I found useful.

To me it is better than money in the bank, I wanted one and waited an age to find one.

Interesting set and enjoyed looking at them...must say 'reflective toucan' is a classic shot, I filled the screen with it...love it!

I bought one of these recently, and paid similar to pentaxophile, I would happily pay more, great lens and really chuffed with results...hold your nerve, someone will come along and pay what it is really worth. It is fabulous to use in so many situations, well built and discreet.

Hi chap and happy New Year.
In both I like the detail and tones in the foregrounds and treatment of the sky.
In the first one the composition in relation to the foreground moving up the diagonal to the hedge line is strong, and the cloud lines in the sky are interesting as well. The tree does not work for me.
In the second one, the texture and treatment of the foreground is really what I like, the building is interesting as well. I would want to lose the the buildings on the left.
Are these how you experienced the light at the time, or have you dragged the sky detail out after?

A really lovely well shot and chosen set, you have even brought a bit of comedy and the pidgin picture is great.

There is something odd and distracting along the far valley side in number 1.
I like the colours and perspective in the waterfall photograph.
The final one is very nice and a good letterbox shape.

My favourite is the third, real atmosphere and love the colours.
