Got a lcd loupe on E-Bay $25 NZ, for a canon 500D. Same size LCD, I believe.

Will let you know how it works, when it arrives.

Those loupes suitable for the Kr look the ticket, but they are quite expensive. Have gone for the cheaper option, a generic hood.
We will see how that goes. I would have preferred the LCD loupe as they seem to be a good method of helping to steady the camera as well, rather than holding it at arms length.

Anyone know where I could get a cheap loupe. Dont really need the magnification, just the shade.

Its like there is so much out there in cameras and design, you really need to try them out before you buy. Maybe should have kept my K20D.

Did I really need video. Went to take some surfing photos on the weekend, with the KR. Thought, this is good I can now just switch to video. Did that, but couldnt see anything on the LCD screen, because of the glare. Thats a bit useless. Could have stayed with the K20D.

My wife suggested, like in the old days, I will have to wear a black hood over the camera and my head if I wanted to take surfing videos. Not a good look on the beach, hiding oneself under a hood. I wonder if Pentax has a accessory black hood with "pentax" emblazoned upon it.

Anybody have any suggestions?

Interesting about the two command dials. Having just got my Kr, I have only tried it out briefly and not in all situations. Will have to work out how to change apeture and shutter speed with one dial. Is it possible.

I had the K20D. Loved the camera, but as someone above stated "an enthusiasts camera"

I bought a KR and sold the K20D just about an even swap in Dollar terms.

Am really happy with the KR, Big LCD, good sharp pictures in any mode, quick to use (I dont have to consider all of the options as I did on the K20D each time I took it out of the bag. Video was what I was really after. My thoughts were that if I got the KR and was limited by anything, I could then later get the new "K3", when that comes out. So at first it was a transitional camera, but now I will stick with it in the forseeable future. Top LCD, who needs it. The info is there on the back LCD whenever you need it. Seems to be the way a lot of manufacturers are going anyway. Built in flash has a good amount of power.

I have only used the KR with pentax lenses though. Dont know how it would perform with other brands.

So far have had no problems with ff issues, or E-Dial problems. But on another forum, Pentax seems to have made some changes to models after
SN 400....

They call the KR entry level, maybe not as good as the K20D, but I believe surpasses all previous older Pentax DSLRs.

The firmware upgrade to 1.11 supposedly fixes contrast and focussing issues under tungsten light. This perhaps may have been contributing to the ff or bf issues.

I think sometimes you need to use some "fuzzy logic". OK the poll question may be specific and mean different things to different people, but if the KR has a ff or bf problem we need to explore this and how it affects your photography, and if measures can be taken to fix or reduce the problem.

There is a large consensus on another Pentax user site that the Kr has some ff of bf problems, inherent in the make of the camera. I did some testing last night inside with the flash, and didnt notice any problem. I will only attach a Pentax lens to a pentax camera now, maybe it has something to do with other brand lenses.

Also I wonder if it has something to do with the point focus setting. Off the top of my head the five point focus is the default, and it seemed to grab the largest object to focus on instead of weighting to the centre. This may be an abberation which appears to be ff or bf. Maybe its bs spread by Ricoh to get the price down.

Just buying a very cheap, looks like reasonably late model Sigma 28-300 "lense".

AF works OK, but the Zoom ring will not zoom, the front can be pulled out manually but has a wobble. Glass is clean.

Any one know how to take these apart. Went to take apart an old Sigma zoom I think it was a 70-300, which had some fungus, but was stumped after I took all the screws out of the mounting plate. Didnt get far. Just couldnt get to the glass.

Any ideas whether its worth spending the time.
