So I went to Buxton, the world's rainiest spa town (or so it seems).

Struggled to keep the rain off the lens, this is my first attempt at HDR and I have tried not to over do it but please tell me if you think its a bit much.

C&C welcome
The first shot of The Crescent seemed ideal for B&W, not that I'm a good judge.

The next essential place to go was of course Buxton Opera House

Thanks for taking the time to look and comment.

trying to make the best of a bad job maybe, but wondered what you think with some selective dodge and burn?

Steve

I just gave them a call and they are closed for the Xmas break, but I guess I have waited 3 years so it won't hurt to wait a few more days.

Thanks for the link and info. I will probably visit as its not far.

many thanks
Steve

This was my first lens when I got into photography in 2008, so I was pretty inexperienced.
I was never really happy with the results I was getting and I had a few images fail IQ with Alamy as SOLD.
I put this down to my poor technique, and some of it probably was.

However after a lay off I have returned to photography and after taking photo's with the 12-24 and the 50-135 which are really sharp I realised I may have a problem with the lens. None of my images with this lens are sharp it seems at any point.

I have used the focus chart and I am getting quite a large degree of back focus, adjustment in camera certainly brings it forward but even with full adjustment it does not quite seem to be right. Its difficult to judge because nowere is perfectly sharp.
Therefore I am guessing a faulty lens

So, what am I to do? The lens is at least 3 years old so out of warranty.

or maybe just crop 30-40% of the top off?!
I appreciate constructive critiscism and take on board what you say.
Anyway heres a couple of hastily done crops. Second one has an annoying thing in bottom right but try and ignore that.
Thanks for looking

No negative comments, do you all think this is an acceptable image? I always struggle to judge my own work and this was a dull day.
