Congratulations and I hope your head does not ache too much this morning

For me FA 31 and 77 ltds and DA12-24. If I got a good deal I would also throw in a new flash as well

If you are intent on buying from NA ,it might be worth considering Henry's, they have a good reputation and are not that much more expensive

The FA 50mm F1.4 is a very good lens, even used they usually sell for well over £100. Just a thought but you might want to consider a the A F1.7. It is manual focus, but very highly regarded and can often be found on Ebay. Expect to pay up to £50 for a good example

Hi and welcome before rushing out to buy new kit, I would recommend taking at least a few months to get used to the kit you have.

Make a habit of recording EXIF data (focal length, aperture, shutter speed ect) and you will then begin to understand the limitations of your current setup.

Then you will be in a much better position to make a decision regarding your next bit of kit.

With a Pentax dedicated flashgun, the flash will synch with the shutter release at 1/100th of a second in both auto and manual modes

The ME is very easy to use and I am sure you will soon get the hang of it.

You can download a copy of the manual here http://www.pentax-manuals.com/

I can't help you with the exact age I'm afraid . FYI The K1000 was first produced in 1976 and continued in production until 1997

I found an early looking example (all metal and Asahi Pentax on the pentaprism) with a serial number 7684766

The original production was in Japan, moved to Hong Kong and then again moved to China (cc1990). The original camera (made in Japan) is all metal , whereas the later model (made in China) has a number of cheaper plastic components.

As far as I am aware the serial numbers are not coded and do not provide much by way of insight into the year and place of manufacture
