I can't believe what I've just seen on eBay.

Carl Zeiss Jena 135mm screw thread lens (East German), with fungus inside and the aperture non-operational, is currently going for £39.

£39??? Why???

A reasonable price for a paperweight, I'd say

The highest three bidders are all in the far east. I don't know what the relevance of that is, but it's interesting!

My own SMC Pentax-M 135mm f3.5 went for £45, although it was absolutely mint to be fair, but perhaps there's something about 135mm lenses at the moment.

If they are the "flavour of the month" maybe it's time to dust them off and get them on eBay.

Th CZJ 135mm F3.5 is a very good lens however paying that sort of cash for one in that condition is stupid as I've seen them go in mint conditon for around £60 or so.

Perhaps if it is going to the far east then they are buying it for the fungus - an ingredient in some extra special dish - sweet and sour Jena anyone?

You drive a hard bargain ! Such a wonderful lens at a bargain price and you want personal delivery too, nah, I think I'll keep it (as if I had a choice, but you never know, one day . . . .).

These days, CZJ lenses seem to have a cachet totally out of proportion with results gathered by objective testing

See for example: http://oomz.net/135/.

I was very amused to see another writer's conclusion that "the tested Super-Multi-Coated Takumar is embarrassingly good compared with the highly regarded CZJ S(onnar)".

Will these Canon users ever learn
