It was a real shame I couldn't get anything in the US lens wise. I hope the lack of Pentax lenses was due to popularity there - certainly in a couple of shops they had sold out in the last day or two before I got there and were waiting on a new order, which would imply popularity. Sadly I was never in one place long enough to wait for their new stock.
I got back from my trip to Phoenix last weekend, very little Pentax kit to be found when I was there. It has been a similar story on all of my visits to the US this year.
When they do have kit, the prices in the normal photog shops tend to be little better than the UK. The best deals are if you can arrange for someone like BHPhoto or Adorama to post to where you are staying. They have a general rule about not sending to resorts/hotels, but are OK with registered workplaces. I picked up a FA50 for around £95 and a FA35 for around £140 towards on separate visits around the turn of the year when the £ was stronger. I was hoping that the DA 17-70 might become available during my last trip, but I guess I will have to wait now until the Autumn.

I have also experienced missing EXIF data.

I first noticed this when with my FA 50. Silkypix recognises that the lens is 50mm but not that it is a FA 50, it also occurs on occasion with my FA35.

Photome and other software I have, correctly reported the lens data.

I have not carried out any controlled tests, so I don't know if this is a camera mode issue or FA lens related

Sandisk Rescue Recovery has saved me on a couple of occasions recently.
As yelvertoft stated the standard version bundled with the 'extreme' cards(I have 3.2) works very well

Back to the subject of selling these items, do folk think I'd get more for them together, or separately, on eBay?
The way Pentax gear has been selling recently, the lens with the camera would be the way I would go.
As for the ME Winder, I would take a chance on listing that separately.

Hi Gwyn, if you are staying with friends place an order with either BH Photo or Adorama and have it sent to their address, that is what I do when I am in the US, much cheaper than most local shops and delivery is usually only a couple of days.

You might want to check out this link as well.

Rebate season has started, so if what you want is on the list you could save yourself even more.

As for viewing RAW on your other half's laptop, you could always download the Pentax Raw Codec

Gywn, flew back from Dallas yesterday on BA and once again there were some rather large bags and cases allowed on board. One guy was actually allowed to take a guitar in a hard case as carry on luggage.

I am down in San Antonio at the moment, it is a very pleasant 25'C and not too much humidity. I have the K10 with me but no way of uploading pictures until I get back home.

My dates are not confirmed yet, but I will probably the around 25th. The trip will be for business, so not much chance to look around.

I flew to Dallas earlier this week on BA. They have relaxed the one piece of hand baggage rule at Heathrow, so you can take a small suitcase (22x17.5x9.85in) and a laptop bag on board. I did not see any size checking at checkin and there were certainly some bags that were larger than the size allowed)

The link below provides more information
(http://www.britishairways.com/travel/bagcabin/public/en_gb) and a laptop.

Coincidentially, I will also flying out to Phoenix in May

I picked up a couple of these on a recent trip to the US with the idea of keeping one as a spare. A certain amount of common sense has prevailed and so I am now offering one for sale. The unit has only been out of the box to test on my K10

I am looking for £15 plus say £1.50 for p&p.

If anyone is interested drop me a PM before Wednesday 5th March ( I will be away for a couple of weeks after that and will be off line most of the time).
