I have for sale a new and boxed lenshood, which fits the original DA50-200 zoom lens. This is an original Pentax manufactured hood in retail packaging.
Ideal for someone, who may lost their original hood, or for owners of the DAL version, that was supplied without a hood.

Price is £5 plus postage and packing.

I picked up two of these at the Jacobs sale this morning. They are new and boxed, with instruction manuals, but were sold without warranty.

I have tested them both on my K10 and they are fully functional. I am offering these to forum members first. If there is no interest, then they will be sold on eBay.

Price is £25 each plus postage and packing

Or alternatively if it bothers you and the glue cannot be removed, you might consider replacement of the front element. All the 50mm F1.7 lenses are optically identical and so the elements could well be exchangable.

I have noticed the same with my K7, however I do not carry my camera that often round my neck so I don't have extensive wear.

I tie my strap in the way shown in this diagram. The plastic loop then goes by the mode dial and can protect the strap a little more.

Some experiment with positioning may help to reduce your problem.
Thanks for the replies.

I tie my strap in a similar way to above. I have spoken with Pentax Support , who offered no solution, other than to contact Johnson's for a possible replacement.

I have a little spare 'webbing' somewhere, I will try to add a little local reinforcement with an extra plastic 'loop' to keep it in place and see how that goes.

Has anyone else had problems with strap wear, caused by rubbing of the strap on the mode selector dial?

I carry my camera around my neck, so that it is readily to hand when out walking. The way the camera hangs means that the strap is in contact with the mode selection dial.

After just a few months of use , the strap needs replacing and I am currently at a loss for a simple way of preventing it happening again.

Hi Martin, I have just read your earlier post. The Kood adapter you describe is quite different to the one I purchased. I bought mine in 2009. It was not painted and looked like and performed identically to an original Pentax adapter.

There are a number of decent quality M42 adapters to be found on eBay from 'name' manufacturers, that fit well and focus to infinity. I purchased a brand new adapter manufactured by Kood and it was around 6.50GBP delivered. I think Hama used to make a pretty decent copy.

There are also lots of no name items that do not focus to infinity that should probably be avoided.

Restricting yourself to one prime requires more planning up front with a clear idea of what you are likely to come across.

The difference in quality is not necessarily the issue it once was, but I do find using a prime quite liberating. In days of old the 50mm or 35mm alternated as my standard, so nowadays I choose between; 24mm, 28mm, 31mm or 35mm.

Glad to hear that the camera is back up and running. It might have been some oxidation on the threads that were preventing good contact between the cover and the body.

I have two Super A's and use them on a semi regular basis. I replaced the seals on both last year and acquired a few spare parts from a scrap Program A that I found on eBay.
