To get a live view image you have to shoot in jpeg because the transfer of the raw file takes too long. It still takes them you simply can't see it.

You can do it in camera on the K-5 but only jpeg. Worth looking at to give you an idea if you like the effect. Not everyone's cup of tea but works well in places with little light like the inside of churches to allow you to get the light through the stained glass and the darker interior.

What's the matter with your eyes a beautiful kingfisher shot and the subject is smack in the middle of the frame (composition Mike tut tut) flying away.

I had it once while panning karts on continuous high speed shooting. The mirror went into overdrive and I had to remove the battery to stop it, but it's never happened since. I shoot the karts every month and this happened about 4 months ago. I have since updated the firmware to version 1.11.
So far so good.

I think it is a case of using it constantly for the fast action and I believe it has loosened up. I had the Sigma 70-200 and the 50-135 and ran them side by side for a few meetings and yes the AF on the Siggy is snappier. But the colours, sharpness and contrast of the Pentax are soooo good it meant that I was never picking up the Siggy, so I've moved it on.

Has to be done I'm afraid John, the kids simply screen dump them for use on Facebook, at least this way I do get a couple of sales and if they do put them on FB with the watermark I'm getting the credit

I have the 50-135, and until recently had a Sigma 70-200. The Sigma was a great lens for sports with quick and accurate autofocus and was pretty sharp. But for portrait work I would use the 50-135. That is also a pretty sharp lens - slightly more so than the Sigma - and the extra 20 at the short end is quite useful. The autofocus is too slow for sports, but for portrait work no problem.
The AF is NOT too slow for sport!

I'm just a hobbyist, no professional pretentions and I love my Pentax gear. I'm satisfied with my current lens line-up and I don't hanker after full frame. The K-3 is a superb camera and works really well with the better glass Pentax produce.

I do understand why a lot of us complain about the lack of development, no full frame etc, but my main concern is Pentax / Ricoh surviving as a Brand. They don't seem to be disappearing at the moment, despite all of the doom mongering! They are and probably always will be a bit of a niche product, but I quite like that!

Adding a 100-400 to the lineup is a massive step in the right direction. They have shed loads of lenses at the short end and very little at the long. This is superb news, and I for one can't wait.... as long as it's not too expensive a la 560mm
