BTW Tim I'm really glad we don't have any of those really big creepy crawlies in GB. If this thing was 10 inches I certainly wouldn't be getting this close and personal.

We had a visitor to our kitchen last night, a centipede, much to my wife's fear and annoyance. So i grabbed my Pentax A 50mm and put it on the tubes and started snapping away, I then reversed the lens holding it with my fingers as the adapter hasn't shown up yet. Got some really close up shots. I then imported them using Lightroom 2 to tweak them up a bit and was horrified to find a shed load of spots all over the photos, I've done a dust alert and it's clean and as hard as I've tried I cannot see any dust on the lens. What am I doing wrong?

So are these any better. This time with the tubes and the Pentax A 50mm but not reversed as I don't have the adapter yet.

I saw them Tim, for those who didn't there is a very handy tone scale at the bottom of this page to check your monitor is correctly calibrated.
Didn't get to see the eclipse cloudy here in S. Wales.

Back to school for me... I tried a combination of a 135 prime and reversed 50 and it just doesn't have enough DOF. Then cam across the article about Thomas Shahan link and all he uses is a reversed 50 on some tubes, well I've got both of them but no adapter so tried the 50 not reversed and straight away a whole load more DOF. So will be sticking to this method in future. Also need to learn focus stacking ... any tips on this technique?
