Oh bu66er ... red eye was on I never use red eye (don't do people pics) BTW if I turn it off, even with the DA*16-50 attached it doesn't pre flash

DOH! Now I'm going to go crawl under a rock or maybe I should sell up and join the canonians or start ballet classes (isn't that the same thing?), either way I am not worthy of being among the esteemed company of you proper Pentaxians.

Hi Guys,
Since upgrading the firmware on my K-7, when using the onboard flash it now fires a pre flash before taking the shot. That's OK except when trying to use it with remote slave flashes as these fire with the pre flash so when I take the shot I have no slave flashes anymore. Does anyone know how to turn this feature off, I've had a look in the menus and can't find anything.
I'd appreciate a little help and advice from the experts.

C'mon Pentax, in the words of Delia Smith ... "Let's be havin' you".
We want long, there is a plethora of short close work lenses and nothing at the long end. I dweam of a Pentax 200-500.

Took a walk out today in the gloom and tried using the 50mm f1.7. It really is a capable little lens. Here are the best ones...IMO. Even though I had to use the flash I do like the one of the squirrel (although it was taken with a DA 55-300).

Modern Pentax cameras are good for 100,000 so will probably go for a good deal more. Quality is quality after all.

I would recommend the 55-300 and if you choose the DAL version with the plastic mount it is much cheaper and you will get some very, very good IQ for not a lot of money.

The sensor moves as part of the shake reduction system and you may be hearing this movement.

I would deffo choose the Pentax as it compliments the K-5s WR capabilities. Get caught in the rain just once and you will wish you had bought the Pentax.
