I really like the "Horizons" here, Bill (1,2,4,6...and 9, though it is not quite in the same spirit as the other 'horizons'). The composition, colours and attention to detail are beautifully treated as usual. 4 and 6 are particularly bold in their minimalism. 9 is more about movement (yet fits in with the aforementioned) within stillness, a quality which I regularly appreciate in your photography.

The sand patterns are a fabulous image, so much texture, so many lines, shells, stones, all moving to the relentless force of the sea. Wild.

Of the four more "classic" (to my eye) landscapses, I have a preference for the cliffs of Moher, with its beautiful light and flowery punctum.

Thanks for sharing all this with us.

Thank you both, I appreciate your thoughts.

Bill, you hit it on the head, the intention was nostalgia (and silence, and perhaps a slight bleakness). The first and last images I wasn't quite sure about, but it suddenly dawned on me that, if included, the whole thing would indeed work as a town to country travelogue of sorts.

Peter, 6 on its own works for me too (well, they all do ) I think for its 'classicism' composition-wise. And yes, 5 is absolutely typical.

Well then, one must let it stand and see what develops...

...actually, on a short train trip heading east out of Paris to see relatives. I've been wanting to take this series of images for a while, but never made the trip at the right time, in the right weather, with hardly any other passengers to bother with my photography. Glad I finally managed, as it is a trip I will likely no longer be taking, our relatives having moved out from the destination village. These could have been taken from just about any train ride out of a city and into the countryside I suppose, but they mean a bit more to me...

Grazing is wonderfully composed and balanced, with beautiful light - very nicely processed, too!

Nice set Peter..
Agreed. Especially like #3 - framing, light/shadows, structure, and history slowing peeling away...

I like how the pumpkins come out so vividly in your image, very much alive.
