I've been regularly photographing reeds by the river here in Périgueux, getting interesting results at times, but, in general, not with a satisfying sense of purpose. I went down the other day and decided I had to come up with a decent, coherent vision. I'm hoping I may have latched onto something with these - a sense of softness being the general direction I have chosen to follow...

Beautiful panoramas of beautiful mountains. My preference goes to the first image - there is a flow to it that contrasts with the jaggedness of the peaks.

All nice but #2 works best for me - strong composition and colours, and the perspective gives a bit of quirkiness.

I like how the juxtapositions work in 4 and 8, giving a more personal view (to my eyes) of urban elements. 11 has great composition and colour.

That Cheese Grater is one heck of an architect's fancy!

Wonderful set, I'm always amazed by your colours - so suave. Even in these night shots they are smooth and clear. The slight unrealness in 1 and 7 make them the standouts for me. 5 makes for a cool intake of breath within the series.

Aha. Did I mention I really like that crooked ice crack?

Lovely set, I like the way you have looked at these rooms. The two fireplaces I really enjoy (warts and all in 6), and, as said by Gary above, the window pane distortion in 12 makes the shot intriguing - twilight zone territory. Love it!

Ha'penny bridge here, too. Love the B+W version, but the colour version, having kept the building on the far side, gives the viewer/virtual streetwalker a place to go - it's even a place to go to, it being indeed, as Bill has said, rather on the warm side.

#2 is quite evocative, with its chaotic cloud lines echoing the decaying building and scaffolding, and the tree standing guard and joining the two.

Definitely not an easy subject to summon visual/photographic feelings/impressions from, Bill. I've never managed to satisfactorily summon either. Even geometrics don't come all baked, as there is not always much "grit" to keep the eye from just sliding away... I'm liking these, though. For impressions I'll go with 2 and 5 for the subtle play on light, 3 for the questioning (the end? where do we go from here? follow the line?), 10 for its gush of energy and 13 for the loneliness. 1 and 6 win on geometrics, as they both have something more. The net-like structure above the air vent and the stray objects on the ground are the important elements there for me, they work toward making the image a succesful combination of both impressions and geometrics. As do the 'drippings' on the Bromley wall - breathing life into the image.
