Ah, the police monument - I should have re-read the thread. I've no idea what that monument looks like.

This is the better of your two night sets for me, Bill (waiting on the ICM's though). I feel they have more of your out of the box visualisation/conception - just a question of personal taste of course... I'm not sure how conscious it might be on your part, but it seems to me a few of these work in pairs: the curves in 2 & 3, the flow of lights in 5 & 6, the 'environmental portraits' of the columns in 9 & 10. 2 & 3 are really grand in their sense of movement/stillness, and 4 is such an embodiment of city night/light/life - what a stunner! 8 is a minimalistic winner for me - I'm thinking there's a lot of detail to be seen in that column (an obelisk I assume?). Fabulous use of light and coulour throughout, as usual.

Thank you for your thoughts. Indeed, Peter, majestic they are. Lenny - much appreciated. Bill, 7 & 8 work together indeed, but I hadn't extrapolated that to the set as a whole - glad you pointed that out for me.

Visually intriguing this one, Steve (and the length of the image plays its part here).

I prefer the first for coulour, Gareth, but 4 is a killer image, well treated in b+w and spot-on composition.

Lovely images, especially Siena and San Gimignano - both great shots and great memories from my 18 months living in Tuscany a few decades ago.

This and the previous series you posted are telling me to get out after dark some more, Bill. The stunner for me in this set is 8 - you've captured the streaming water at just the right shutter speed, as stated by Richard above, and the curved lines of light reflecting off the fountain rims bring just the right amount of focus and material detail to the image, in contrast with the aforementioned (slightly undefined) stream. I also like the visually strong statement of 11 (your stronger than usual use of colours work quite well here), as well as the delicate curtain drapings contrasting with the rigid column grooves in 4. As for 1, I think the barriers bring just the right amount of 'out of placeness' to the image - an understated visual pendant to the Pistols' 'Anarchy in the U.K.' - stated in a gentlemanly manner.

I'm all for (apparent) emptiness, so this works just fine for me. Plenty of space for imagination, interpretation, contemplation... Nice one, Gareth.

Quite an atmospheric set, Andy - that last image in particular conveys a an eerie sense of mystery. The alleyway and its walls in 6 have an interesting dynamic, and the tree in 2 brings a (slightly uneasy) contemplative feel to the collection.

Another set of images from Berlin. An afternoon at the Botanical Garden, the better part of which in the magnificent tropical greenhouse - a beautiful construction I did not take enough pictures of... We spent so much time inside we had only a short time to stroll through a very small part of the gardens themselves (they are huge). It's definitely the kind of place that is so rich one doesn't really know where to look - I'd need to set a theme to follow on different visits in order to coax ideas out of all that is there...
