Agreed, nifty movement in that shadow.

5 would be my pick, there's a delicate yet strong movement in those daffodils leading to the trees and beyond.

Congratulations, Bill, a very much deserved reward. Evocative work as always, some of these have stayed in my mind since last seeing them here.

I like the critter's colours, and they blend well with the backdrop. I'm sure we will be using our close-up/macro set-ups a bit more than usual in the weeks ahead...

Nice set, with the first shot bringing context to the whole (and an effective composition it is, too).

No.1 for me I would have plumped for No.2 as the subtle, soft colours work so well - but the yellow is just a touch too bright for the subject (IMO) - still a lovely image though
Agreed, nice set all around, though.

Not sure why, but these things are called 'cardinals', and when triangles point down, south cardinals, meaning that there is a hazard to the north of it so sail to the south of it.
From your information, I would assume the name comes from 'cardinal points'?

there's a difference look compared to a true macro lens (partly the bokeh I guess)
Yes, definitely something different. I enjoy the recognizable-yet-not-exactly character such combinations often yield, plus the field of view can be interesting (I've been experimenting 12mm tubes on 28mm lenses on apsc, interesting indeed). 2 & 3 have my preference.
