I think Pentax should be thoroughly ashamed to be losing another customer on their service level - particulalry one as loyal as ttk with over 1000 posts here. This should be one of their strong points.

Perhaps the mods here or someone like SRS should take up the cause and let Pentax know.

Hoya lenses go for good money (not sure why). £40 is probably ok. Good luck with the sale.

This is interesting, but implies that Pentax must stay in the same DSLR market which is about to be decimated by hybrid, mirrorless, evf cameras and does not bode well for Canon or Nikon either. IF the collaboration with Samsung continues, the evf camera could be a major step above/round Canon, Nikon et al. On the other hand, hoya could just cut their losses and close Pentax camera division.

The other factor not picked up in the presentation is marketing: above anything else, marketing sells, and Pentax does not have the cash for that level of expenditure. In the meantime, I hope my istDS continues for a few more years.

I use the older clip on style K series refconverter with a hacked plastic viewfinder Minolta mount from a Seagull right angle finder.

Minolta, Olympus and Pentax M series seem to have the same or similar fitting.

No idea if £599 is a good price. The lens looks good:
