I was in my local camera shop yesterday for the first time ever and they had a selection of old lenses including a Pentax 135mm f1:2.5 k mount manual lens.

Are these any good and is the £20 asking price probably worth it?

I left a fiver on it and am going back to try it out but as I really don't have a clue what I'm on about any advice would be welcome.

For £20 you cannot go too far wrong. If it is good condition, you will get your money back on the auction website.

Is it the Takumar (Bayonet) 135mm f2.5?

If so, it's a "budget" 4 element design that gives a respectable performance on film. Don't know about on digital.

Worth £20 if it's in nice condition.
You have not looked on ebay recently: £40 - £50 is the going rate for the Takumar these days.

RR - interesting reasoning for switching brands. Surely some NR software would have been far cheaper than a whole system change. If you use RAW then you would be post processing anyway.

In any case, good luck with the switch and I hope it assists you in gettng what you need from photography.

I have 2 KX and 2 MXC bodies. They will be the film bodies to keep until film is no longer available.

KX: very solid, big, easy to use.

MX: very solid, small, easy to use (also better viewfinder).

The MX with 40/2.8 fits in a large pocket and could substitute for a Leica, it is that small and usable.

II have the F4 version - it is very good, as is the SMC-F AF version, which is no bigger than a 50mm lens.

I would very much like to see the Samsung system first: an APS-C sensor and possibility of using a 40/2.8 pancake lens or even a 35/2 as "normal" lenses is quite enticing.
